According to a press release dated May 11, HTC (consumer electronics giant) came out to announce the Exodus 1S smartphone with BTC full node capability. The press release further noted that the company claims that the value-aligned variant of the smartphone will be out in the market at the end of the third quarter of 2019.

Exodus 1 is built on the first generation of the firm’s blockchain smartphone. Further, HTC also claims that the Exodus 1 will be the first ever smartphone which will provide full node capability. As per the release. The phone will encompass the entire bitcoin blockchain and enable trustless user experience since “a full node is the only way to use Bitcoin in a fully private way and full nodes are critical to securing the future of Bitcoin.”

The decentralized chief officer at HTC, Phil Chen further commented that “Full nodes are an essential ingredient in the resilience of the Bitcoin network and we have lowered the barrier to entry for any person to run a node, […] participating in a global bitcoin network that propagates transactions and blocks everywhere.”

Moreover, the firm also came out with a Software Development Kit primarily of its Zion Vault hardware wallet to all developers on GitHub. The Exodus 1 will also feature widgets on the Etherscan (ethereum blockchain explorer), European search engine Qwant and support non-fungible Ethereum-based ERC-721 tokens.

As reported previously in the month of February, the Samsung Galaxy, S10 series smartphones, manufactured by the South Korean tech giant (Samsung) will purportedly have wallet functions fo Ether, Bitcoin, and two more tokens. Further, in the month of April, Sirin Labs (blockchain smartphone startup) laid off close to a quarter of its workforce.
