Juventus could look to sign PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer

Juventus ‘will reignite their interest in Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer’ as they ‘look to take advantage of his situation at PSG’ with the goalkeeper ‘disillusioned’ with the Parisian project following their Champions League exit

  • Juventus were linked with a move for Gianluigi Donnarumma last summer
  • The goalkeeper ended up going to PSG on a free transfer in July instead
  • He has struggled in his first season and has reportedly fallen out with the club
  • Juventus could now make another move to sign him in the next transfer window

Juventus are monitoring Gianluigi Donnarumma’s situation at PSG and could try to sign the goalkeeper this summer, according to reports.

The Italian giants were linked with Donnarumma last year when his contract at AC Milan expired, but the shot-stopper opted to move to PSG instead.

His debut season in France has not gone to plan, though, and he made a costly error to kick-start Real Madrid’s comeback which dumped PSG out of the Champions League on Wednesday.

It is understood that Donnarumma’s relationship with his current employers is damaged, and Juventus may look to take advantage of this by making a move for him at the end of the season, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport.

There have also been claims that Donnarumma is not seeing eye-to-eye with some of his teammates, although Neymar denied on Thursday that the pair almost came to blows after PSG’s capitulation in Madrid.

A potential stumbling block for Juventus to get a deal done is that Donnarumma is contracted to PSG until 2026, suggesting that they may have to pay a hefty fee to acquire his services.

However, with controversy appearing to follow Donnarumma around at the moment, Juventus may fancy their chances of landing the 23-year-old for lower than his current market value.

If he did switch Paris for Turin at the end of the season, Donnarumma’s gross salary would be set to double.

The Italy international has been limited to just 11 Ligue 1 appearances this term, with Mauricio Pochettino slightly favouring Keylor Navas for the majority of the season.

Donnarumma was trusted with the gloves for PSG’s trip to the Santiago Bernabeu, but this decision backfired as his poor clearance allowed Karim Benzema to get Real Madrid back into the contest.

The Euro 2020 winner has since broken his silence after a difficult evening in the Spanish capital.

‘The elimination from the UCL was a tough blow. The past 2 days were not easy, but it is precisely from these difficult times you come out stronger,’ he wrote on social media on Friday.

‘Now we need to think about the present, to win the Ligue 1, giving everything like I always did for this shirt, club and fans. Allez Paris!’

For now, Donnarumma has pledged his commitment to PSG until the end of the season, but Juventus could look to test his loyalty when the campaign concludes.
