I would hate to say “ruining”, but the imminent Severe Weather Alert popped up on my screen at 10:32 pm, on a Wednesday. Living in the Midwest, it was around -6 degrees with a windchill under -35. The severe weather alert asked to “ LOWER your heat to 65 or less through Friday”. It came in the form of an Amber alert when children go missing. In red, flashing on my screen and sounding an alarm, I had no choice but to look. I didn’t know what to think. Reading the words, I felt that it was a typo. I believed it was a mistake.

This alert was not sent to only me. This message was sent to everyone in the state of Michigan. Michigan is 96,716 square miles and the population is of almost 10 million people. EVERYBODY received that alert at the same time. Apparently, Michigan is not equipped with resources to fulfill the exigencies by our survival. I wonder if this threaten our liberties. I definitely understand that we all need to have heat and the need to even out the system and/or grid, but I am bothered by a deeper issue.

On a Record breaking cold day, the state of Michigan simply does not have the faculties to support the conditions of the weather. We need better equipment in this state. Ten people have already died from the frigid cold in the Midwest and a whole state has to turn their heat down. On an actual day of sixty-five degrees, people wear long sleeves or sweatshirts. With the wind chill of less than -35, it affects a home to where the heat going though the building actually feels less than what it is set on. People are putting on coats in their own homes to survive.

We hear all this talk about a wall. Over ten billion dollars for a wall and a whole state is freezing because the equipment is not up to date. The people running politics are our parents and grandparents. I question our priorities. Is the wall really a state of emergency or is the vortex affects more serious? The vortex has exposed to us an existence that has been hidden. An existence that needs attention. We pay so much attention to things that dont matter, when real problems are right here at home. The country is of the richest. We have the highest GDP, a very large economy. We hold a per capita of 60,000 dollars. If money was spread to every single person evenly, we would all get 60,000 per year.

All we ask is where does our money go? How are we distributing our money? What areas is our money going to? This is actually a crisis in Michigan. The world has been exposed to a truth that we need to give attention to. We have to take care of ourselves first. President, what exactly is happening? Are the people really put first? Do we really care about lives? Caring is an action and can not be achieved by talking. The country needs to care about the country. Based on El Chapo’s trial, I doubt a Wall will solve our problems. Unless walls can be built under water and into the sky with the clouds, a wall is asinine.

They say they need to be able to distribute enough oil to go around. So we have a problem with the oil system. The world needs to go green. It is time to live in the future. The future is calling us. We have windmill energy and sun grids, it is time to tap into its power. Clean and efficient, STRONG, energy. Creating jobs is always good, but we have to switch our priorities around. We need to move with the times and jobs will be created. Oil is a preceding evolution and we need to move forward. Our lives depend on it. The country needs to disperse the money in a logical and productive matter. The country is out of balance. The country is scattered. Where do we go from here?
