Can I make money with a Wealthy Affiliate without a premium membership? People are wondering. In view of the attraction of Wealthy Affiliate for aspiring affiliate marketers and others wishing to advance their online careers, that is not a vain question at all.
The straightforward answer?
Yes, you can.
The detailed answer?
Read on to find out.
To know something, you must first learn about it. So let’s get to know Wealthy Affiliate.
What is Wealthy Affiliate?
We find out from their about us that Wealthy Affiliate began as an initiative to help people succeed online in the same way the co-founders Kyle and Carson had experienced success themselves on the web.
Since 2005 when it was created as a keyword selling site, the platform at WA has continued to evolve and innovate at a pace that is faster than the industry. And in 2018 the affiliate training platform boasted over 1,500,000 members.
And as a place which is not only growing in popularity as the hottest affiliate training site and the platform which doesn’t just lead the affiliate industry but also innovates and propels the industry, many prospective trainees interested in it are asking themselves that question above.
To be able to answer it to your satisfaction, we need to look at certain things. The first is the membership.
Which are the Wealthy Affiliate Memberships?
Wealthy Affiliate offers two membership types:
- A free 7-day starter membership which, of course, costs you nothing. (You don’t even need a credit card to sign up), and
- A premium membership which costs $19 (40% discount) for the first month and $49 thereafter or $359 for the first yearly membership and $529 after.
What’s the Wealthy Affiliate Free Membership?
Everybody from eligible countries (list below) starts with the free 7-day trial membership. This gives you time enough to decide if Wealthy Affiliate is a good fit for you.
At the end of the trial period, 1 out of 8 people upgrade to the premium membership, according to Wealthy Affiliate. Out of the other 7 people, some are convinced Wealthy Affiliate is what they need to succeed as affiliate marketers. But for various reasons, they can’t upgrade to the premium membership level.
These may be:
- You’re living on a fixed income (Lack of money)
- No time to dedicate to the course
- Not quite sure yet if Wealthy Affiliate is exactly what you’re looking for
- Fear of failure to succeed at the training
- Need of proof that Wealthy Affiliate really works
- Your salary is just enough to pay the bills and buy the groceries
- You raise grandkids so no extra money left
- You care for a handicapped child or parent (takes time and money)
- etc., etc.
Hence the question: Can I make money with a wealthy affiliate without a premium membership?
I mentioned eligible countries for the free starter membership. It will be easier to give you a list of banned countries.
People from Which Countries Can’t Join Wealthy Affiliate as a Free Member?
The countries from which people are not permitted to sign up for the free Wealthy Affiliate trial membership are:
Why are People from These Countries Blocked by Wealthy Affiliate?
It seems members from those countries lead to no conversions and have the highest level of complaints and issues within the community. So they are barred from the free membership to protect other Wealthy Affiliate members and Wealthy affiliate itself.
Besides, people from the above countries can’t even benefit from the discounted first month but they can join directly as a premium member.
Why Do People Join Wealthy Affiliate?
What we are going to do principally in this article is to let you see the differences between the free and the premium memberships and then let you see which one can best serve your interests.
Wealthy Affiliate as we said is an affiliate training platform. And when you sign up for a membership, you are looking to be trained in that wise. So let’s look at what you may get.
What are the Wealthy Affiliate Training?

Now, let’s see the other Wealthy Affiliate training course.

The Affiliate Bootcamp training is a 7-Phase series of 10 courses (70 lessons) which walk you through the process of creating and establishing a business in a niche related principally, but not solely, to the promotion of Wealthy Affiliate.
Description: Within the first phase of the training you are going to get your business built on a solid foundation. All long term businesses start with a vision and a brand and Wealthy Affiliate will help you get this in place in this first phase.

Which Training are Available to Free Members During and After the Trial Period?
During the Trial Period: All of the Online Entrepreneur Certification courses and the Affiliate Bootcamp ones are open to free members. Email addresses are not available to starter members.
If you are going to test things during those 7 days, it’s only normal that you have access to everything.
But you will agree with me that it will be impossible to do all those lessons, even only the Online Entrepreneur Certification one, during the trial period.
After the Trial Period: After the 7 days, a starter member’s access becomes limited to levels 1 of OEC and affiliate bootcamp. You also lose access to some of the premium only features like Live Chat, Help Center, Wealthy Affiliate blog, Jaaxy keyword research tool, email, the Community.
In fact, you can stay as free member as long as you want and your two siterubix sites will always be up and running free.
You can still access and make posts on your siterubix sites. However, after 6 months without upgrading to premium, you will receive an email notifying you that they need to free up some space. Meaning they will delete your site or suspend your access.
I think this is the right thing to do since it costs Wealthy Affiliate to host your sites for free.
Can You Make Money With the Wealthy Free 7-Day Starter Membership?
Now, in view of the course descriptions above, from levels 2 to the end in respect of what you will be missing, and considering what else you don’t get access to after the free starter membership level, do you think that you can make money with Wealthy Affiliate without a premium membership?
If that is the case, is it worth signing up for the starter membership? And, is all lost after that?
Read on to find out.
How Can You Make the Best of the Free 7-Day Starter Membership?
In this section we are going to show you how to make the most of the first 7 Days of your Starter Membership.
Explore If You Are Made to Run a Business of Your Own
Will you enjoy being your own boss with a business online?
Well, you can’t find out until you try. Profit from the first 7 days of the Starter Membership to do so.
During this time you have the opportunity to ask questions within the OEC training material, live chat or on your personal WA blog space. Response is almost instantaneous.
You can also communicate with your sponsor, Kyle and Carson, the co-founders, as well as other members of the WA Community.
So you have a lot of time and opportunities to make informed decisions during the 7 days.
By now you might have had enough information to decide on your niche (topic/idea) that you want to pursue. With over 1,000,000 niches to explore, you will surely find something to blog about and which will interest some readers.
You are at Wealthy Affiliate for training so make the effort to explore some of the training resources. There are 1,000s of them, from the training courses, through the weekly webinars to members’ blog posts, etc. This first attempt may whet your appetite for the training.
It will be a big waste of your time if you don’t follow the first lessons in the Online Entrepreneur Certification – Level 1 course. What you learn might be useful later on if you decide to join or even elsewhere in your life.
Wealthy Affiliate training is structured around affiliate marketing. You must therefore read about internet marketing. You would find a lot of such material in the webinar section. This is a live training with a replay.
As a free starter member, you have the right to set up two websites on SiteRubix, the Wealthy Affiliate powerful WordPress builder platform.
I will advise you to begin with one because two at the beginning might be too many to handle easily.
Once your website is built, you must fill it with content. Content is to a website what the engine is to the car.
Write a couple of articles and or blog posts related to your niche. Profit from Jaaxy to do keyword research for your articles. Should you need more information, head to the webinar section and watch one on how to use Jaaxy to do keyword research.
Generally when people get something for free they don’t give it the same attention as the one they paid for. But if you’re going to benefit from this 7-day trial opportunity, you need to commit to learning. Approach it halfheartedly and you’ll be wasting your time. Embrace it wholeheartedly and you’ll be gaining a lot.
Besides, the more you know about something, the less intimidating or difficult it is to deal with.
In any case remember this Chinese proverb: Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere.
Commit Time, Don’t be a Tire Kicker
If you signed up for Wealthy Affiliate’s free starter membership, it’s almost certain it isn’t the first time you’ve signed up to try something free online.
Do you remember how you signed up eagerly and found at the end of the trial period that you’ve done very little to nothing?
It happens to all us all the time.
Lack of time.
Treat your Wealthy Affiliate trial differently and don’t make that mistake here.
It was William Penn who said, Time is what we want most, but what we use worst.
On signing up you knew how much time you had alongside work, family commitments and leisure activities. That may be very little but you may have to cut out some of the things you normally do to free up time for this.
Before I give you ideas to free up time for your Wealthy Affiliate trial period, let me extensively quote you a passage on the use of time.
HOW TO GOVERN THE WAY YOU INVEST YOUR TIME WITH GOALS
For many, the idea of “investing” time is a new way of looking at things.
For one thing, a lot of your time has been managed for you. You haven’t had much control over it. You had to be in school a certain number of hours each day, and now maybe you have to be on the job a certain number of hours a day. It takes a certain number of minutes to travel to and from work each day. Time to eat. To sleep. When you take all that out, you may have only about 5 or 6 hours a day of time you truly control. Still, that’s a lot. Five hours a day is 1,825 hours a year. Call that ‘YOUR TIME.”
Most people let all this “YOUR TIME” slip away. Sort of evaporate, like a glass of water evaporates into the air as the day goes on. At the end of a month or a year, people can’t really point to many desired changes in any category of living resulting from the use of this “YOUR TIME.” In a very real sense, they just “spent” that time.
And often, they let others determine how it would be spent. A buddy drops by, says “Let’s fly kites,” you say yes, and go fly kites for three hours. There’s nothing wrong with that, of course. In fact, you might set a goal to fly kites or otherwise get at least 5 hours a week of physical exercise. So there’s nothing wrong with that act itself. But over time, if you casually let others spend all YOUR TIME for you, on impulse, haphazardly, you will probably find yourself disappointed with your progress in life.
When you look at your goals, you’ll see there are ways you could deliberately “invest” certain amounts of your time to move toward achieving them. The difference between “spending” and “investing” is that when you “spend,” you have little to show for it after the fact; when you “invest,” you have something of tangible value to show for it after the fact. There’s nothing wrong with “spending” a lot of your time, but don’t you think it’d be smart to “invest” some of it?
THE MAGIC POWER OF JUST ONE HOUR A DAY
Earl Nightingale, one of the most respected authorities of all in the field of human potential and self-improvement, became convinced that if a person dedicated just one hour a day to study one particular subject or skill, he would be a world class expert in that subject, in less than three years.” – How to Open the Door to Your Future, The Official ICS Guide To Success In Life, Published by ICS Learning System, Inc.
“Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.” – Carl Sandburg, Great American Author
Now, here are the ideas I promised you to make time for a week.
- Cut out non-essential activities from your schedule
- Cut out TV and/or hanging out with friends
- Delegate any jobs other people can do for you to them
- Get up a couple of hours earlier and/or go to bed a couple of hours later
- Negotiate with family or friends to leave your “YOUR TIME” to yourself
- Plan your time work on the 7-day activities
- Sacrifice your weekend
There you are. I’ve forced you to the riverside but only you can drink. If you don’t let “lack of time” become an excuse, I bet you, at the end of the 7 days, managing your time profitably will be one of the key components of your life as well as your future success.
Of course, if you take my advice to commit and manage your time, the remaining crucial ingredient will be: Take Action. Many people don’t take action on their plans. Don’t be one of them.
Now, which actions should you take?
Fill in your personal profile and upload an image
The first is to work on your personal profile.
You don’t have to write a novel but just enough for others to have a good idea of who you are. Upload an image too. Although not forbidden, avoid the tendency to use your dog or anything which is not you. People want to know who they’re dealing with.
Follow the Course Instructions Religiously
Then you’ll be have to start the Online Entrepreneur Certification Course.:
– Getting Started Level 1 .
There are 10 lessons. If in a lesson you’re told to watch a video for example, please watch it. If you’re asked to read a document or run through a tutorial, do it. Don’t entertain the tempting tendency to jump over anything, telling yourself you’ll come back to it later.
This course has been carefully designed in a “natural” progression to let you get what the basics of internet marketing are about. Sidestepping any element is like watching only the action sequences of a film. Would you have a complete image of it?
Read Everything Thoroughly
You’d be tempted to skim over information because of pressure.
You may skim read the first time but you’ll have to go back and do some more serious reading.
Jot down notes and questions.
Ask Relevant Questions
If you don’t understand something there’s nothing as normal as asking questions. You can do this in 3 places – Live Chat, your personal blog space and another member’s blog space. The Live Chat is ideal for short questions.
Don’t ask too many questions at the same time. People may not take you serious. As this is often a sign that you haven’t bothered to understand what you need answers for.
Be specific in your questions. And you will get helpful answers.
Don’t be afraid to ask a question because you think it’s stupid. It may not seem like that to others at all.
See a member’s tips for asking questions
As you saw in the training course descriptions, there are 120 lessons. The webinar and other places are also stocked full of great resources. You may be tempted to head over to them to have a look at what’s available.
While that’s not a bad idea per se, don’t forget you have limited time, so don’t get distracted by trying to look at too many.
Order saves you time. Therefore make notes of your journey. This will be helpful when you’re asking questions.
I told you above that there is a huge selection of resources available at Wealthy Affiliate. If you don’t stay focused in the 7 days, you’ll easily feel overwhelmed by the information “overload”.
By not letting it get you bogged down, you’ll be able to stay motivated.
Get Immersed In the Community
WA has a thriving helpful community always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone needing help with something. Make the most of it in your first 7 days.
Use Live Chat
The live chat is a sort of a live feed where you’ll see lots of conversation rolling along.
If you need answer to something urgently, ask and someone will immediately help you out. It may happen occasionally that you don’t get an answer to your query. Don’t take it personal. People answer if they can.
See a member’s tips for using Live Chat here
Use the Wealthy Affiliate Members’ Blog Spaces
You’re encouraged to create at least ONE blog post at Wealthy Affiliate per week. You can truly start to leverage your blog.
What you blog about is up to you. Kyle recommends “that you blog about your journey, blog about things that you have learned, things that you want to share (in respect to your business) and of course any success.”
You can also ask more complex questions on your blog and other members will answer you. You can also leave comments for other people on their blog space. That can be an ideal way to communicate with your sponsor. If don’t want everybody to see the matter, better contact them through Private Message (PM).
That’s it. A brief overview of how you should make the most of your first 7 days on the Starter Membership.
Hopefully at the end of the 7 days if you have used your time wisely and followed the pieces of advice given here, you’ll see the benefits of signing up to the Premium Membership.
Kyle has explained the changes to the Starter Membership in his blog. Click the following link to read it.
Communication, Help & Support is Becoming a Premium Only Feature at WA.
Recap of the major points mentioned in Kyle’s blog post above.
Update #1: As of May 9th, communication has reverted to Premium members ONLY. Starter members beyond their first 7 days are going to need to upgrade to continue communicating. This includes chat, discussions, blogging, and commenting.
(1) 7 days gives you a good taste of the PREMIUM support offered. People have access to industry experts within their first seven days, access that is not offered anywhere else. This gives all Starter members a good idea of what sort of awesome help and support they get by being part of the Premium community We offer everyone support like no other community out there, everybody is given the same level of support and we do not discriminate.
(3) We want to prevent “community” leeching.
We want to retain community quality and this involves offering the highest level of service to Premium members. I mean, they are paying customers and deserve the utmost experience and attention, offering a wide open communication platform can dilute this.
If you join monthly, premium is $47 per month which is still an out of this world deal. If you join as a yearly member (no monthly payments), you get our 2005 price of $359! This works out to be only $29 per month, or $0.97 per day.
With Premium Membership you can:
(1) Utilize Live Chat
(2) Create Blog Posts
(3) Create Discussions
(4) Create training
(5) Comment Anywhere within the system
Why Does the Starter Membership Expire
Businesswise, the company spends money on its platform, pays taxes, has two co-founders, three-member senior team (Programming, Technology, and Training Chiefs) and 20 full time workers. All these people need to be paid.
The site is constantly upgraded in the course of any one year. And every three years it undergoes a total overhaul.
Money is need to do these and others. Not being a not-for-profit, where do you think the money should come from?
Socially, anything free is usually not taken as seriously as the one you have to pay for. When your dollars are at stake, you will WORK the training harder and treat it seriously, as a business and not a hobby.
Usually people take free things with a grain of salt. You may put some money into a hobby and make some money with it. But if it is a business you have to put your all, including some serious dollars, into it.
It takes meat to catch meat and in the same way money to make money.
Your Starter Membership Has Expired But You Aren’t Ready to Upgrade Yet – What Next?
So you’ve come to the end of your first 7 days as starter membership of Wealthy Affiliate. You did not sign up for premium membership for various reasons, some of which are mentioned at the beginning of this post.
Not upgrading to premium is not a crime. You did what was right for you in view of certain circumstances.
But I have a question for you: What next?
Are you going to walk away from it all as if nothing had happened? Well, I think you shouldn’t.
So I’m going to talk about things that you need to be thinking about until you’re ready to sign up and enjoy the training, support, discussions, and additional resources available to premium members.

Site Comments, Feedback and Review
You need people to comment on your content, give you feedback on your site and review other matters concerning your business.
All of these services are offered by Wealthy Affiliate to premium members. As you’re still on the Starter Membership you will not be able to avail yourself of them.
However you yourself, your family, and your friends can do this. The only problem is that you may not be honest with yourself (because self-criticism is not an easy thing), neither will the other people (who may not want to hurt you.)
But one good friend for errors in your content will be grammarly.com.
