There's nothing more important than your own happiness and doing what you feel is right for you. This blog is inspired by people who don't feel they can make it in whatever they're passionate about. With 7 billion people in this world, it would be hard for me to believe that no one would be interested in what I write about when it comes to societal issues.
There are people who probably want to vocalize what I'm writing about but don't know how to. Or they feel that they're not talented enough to do it. I'm here to tell you, you are good enough to do whatever you're passionate about in your life. If you want to write, be on TV, be an athlete, be a lawyer, doctor, work in technology, be a motivational speaker, own a clothing line, do it. It's going to be hard but don't EVER let anyone deter you from doing what you feel is best for you.
Living for yourself and not concerning yourself with other people's opinions will allow you to go a long way. Now when I was told this, my mind never shifted to proving them wrong. I know what I'm good at, I know that this is what GOD wants me to do with my life. I'm pretty good at what I do and I haven't honestly reached my peak yet with the content I'm writing about.
Yes, I do write about societal issues that many people don't want to read about or talk about. With the world a mess, people want to do anything to escape and that's good and bad. It's good for a little while because it can be a bit much. It's bad because if nothing is done now, things will only get worse over time and then what? It's too late at that point and the things we swept under the rug are even way harder to fix or solve.
I wrote the Code Blue series for the black kids and young men who were killed at the hands of police officers. I wrote it for the good police officers who are caught up in the wrongful things going on and that their voice and speaking on it can save lives and expose what's going on. That living by the code blue life and protecting criminals is not the way to go, it's about humanity and doing the right thing. The series starts off hard hitting and as it goes on, there is hope that things will get better. But it's only going to get better if we collectively start addressing the issue and not sweeping it under the rug. It can't be dealing with the issue when it shows up at our front door, then it's too late. That's the message but the person who told me about my books being negative doesn't see that and I can't be the one who makes them see that.
Negative energy will always be there no matter what you do and I had to tell a friend I used to work with about that. I told them that they have to do what makes them happy, and not to live for others. You'll never make everyone happy, you'll never satisfy people and there will always be criticism for any and everything that you do. You can't get mad if people have tunnel vision in their lives or that they don't see your vision and where you're going. It just teaches you that you can't take them on the journey with you and that you can't talk about what you're working on with them.
The blogs I write are positive, most of my podcasts are to make you think and there are books and scripts I've written that can and will impact others in the world. Sometimes people become fixated on certain aspects of your journey and not the whole landscape of things and you can't even get mad. I don't get mad for many reasons. One main reason is because no one has ever picked my brain to where you're asking me why I'm writing these books, what my purpose is and what is the goal for writing these books. I don't get made because I just get better as time goes on and you will too.
It's your life, your journey, your passion, remember that. Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life. When you apply that to your life, everything becomes easier and better for yourself. Always stay positive and remember the journey isn't easy, I'm just getting started and I hope you are too. Longevity and legacy is the name of the game for me.
Be good everyone and go accomplish your goals.
