So I took a little break from Stitch Fix reviews. I went from a workplace that was really casual (like sweatshirts and jeans) to a workplace that is much more formal (like business professional vs. business casual). I asked my stylist for some work picks and they just fell flat. Everything made me look like that professor from Saved By The Bell: The College Years, or how I would imagine a reclusive New England novelist might dress. Like no — when I said “Reese Witherspoon/Ann Taylor vibe” I did not mean khaki pants and an ivory fisherman’s sweater?!? A valid look for someone, but not my style. We had several fixes like that and just never vibed on anything, so I took a break and after the last fix, noticed they added a button to ask for a new stylist and I did go for a change! Spoiler alert, my first fix with my new stylist was a 5/5! After many 0/5 fixes, I was ready for this one!
After Pinteresting, I discovered that formal business wear is maybe just not Stitch Fix’s strength. I found some other great resources for business professional clothes that I’ll blog about soon, but this time I went for just casual pieces. Here’s what they sent me …
Stitch Fix Piece #1 Vince Camuto Serina Piping Detail Tie Front Blouse, $78
Initial Thoughts: So I am a sucker for a tie waist top — then I saw in my stylist’s note, “I saw from your Pinterest board that you really like tie waist.” Yeah, girl I do. I was excited about this one in that it might be a possibility for work with a blazer, but also a date night top! Needing to go from day to night at a moment’s notice has literally never happened to me, but if it ever does, I’m soooo ready.
The Try-on: Loved it! It’s a great, lightweight crepey material that’s perfect for summer and gives it a great drape. Love the it’s sleeveless and v-neck, but still appropriate for a work fit. A hit all around!
The Verdict: Kept!
Style Notes: Paired with Limited Stretch Pants, and Crocs Jelly Flats
Stitch Fix Piece #2: Kensie Marni Notched Collar Blazer, $88
Initial Thoughts: I didn’t ask for blazers in this one — my last fix where I did featured a blazer style with elbow patches — but I will say I’ve found that a great women’s blazer is few and far between. I had high hopes for this one!
The Try-on: A winner! Definitely not the most formal blazer I own — it’s a little less structured than that, and no button or official collar, but I loved it. A little stretch and a good fit!
The Verdict: Kept! And added into my work blazer rotation!
Style Notes: Paired with Limited Stretch Pants, and Crocs Jelly Flats – side note, these are crazy comfortable. Like, don’t rub, could walk a mile in them, I want to own them in alllll the colors. Ann Taylor Factory shell and J. Crew Factory necklace.
Stitch Fix Piece #3 Daniel Rainn Estefany Lace Detail Split Neck Blouse, $64
Initial Thoughts: Loved the color — you guys know how I feel about a jewel tone. But it’s a pretty basic blouse, so I wasn’t sure this would be a for sure keeper.
The Try-on: This far exceeded my expectations for fit and overall feel. I could wear this to work under a blazer, with shorts to a fair with the kids, or dress it up for a date night. The trifecta all in one top :).
The Verdict: Kept!
Style Notes: Paired with Limited Stretch Pants, and Crocs Jelly Flats and J. Crew Factory necklace.
Stitch Fix Piece #4 41 Hawthorn Kassidy Faux Wrap Dress, $54
Initial Thoughts: See my thoughts above about a tie waist — and these colors — love! The only potential drawback is the criss cross neckline. Sometimes they’re seriously indecent without a tank top under it and I don’t always want to go the layered look in a scorching heat.
The Try-on: Loved it! The length was perfect, the criss cross laid perfectly, no layering needed and it just felt cute. Not formal enough for my work, but it could be in more of a business casual situation.
The Verdict: Kept!
Style Notes: Paired with Crocs Sanrah wedge
Stitch Fix Piece #5 41 Hawwthorn Evander Dress, $68
Initial Thoughts: Love a bright color, especially a red! I thought this looked like a fab date night dress.
The Try-On: Loved it! The cinched waist was flattering, I loved the mixed materials and the length was perfect for a date night look!
The Verdict: Kept!
Style Notes: Don’t judge me, paired with Crocs Sanrah Wedge in yet another color.
Speaking of buying things in all the colors — I just saw that if you go into your past items, you can buy a favorite item in the other colors with free shipping! This is a whole new world and I’m definitely going back to see the other color choices in my past buys!
