6 Healthy Ways to Use Avocado Other Than in Guacamole

Avocados are great sources of nutrients for both the inside and outside of your body, but they are largely undervalued when it comes to the ways you can use them outside of a creamy guacamole dip. Here are six other healthy ways you can use avocado:

Avocados are loaded with nutrients including Vitamins C and E, both of which do wonders for your Skin. Eating avocados can deliver these nutrients to different areas of your body, but you can also use avocados on your skin to help hydrate it and provide your skin with the nutrients it needs.

Mash up the avocado and spread it on dry patches of skin. You should leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes before washing it off with warm water and patting your skin dry. This perfectly treats dry patches and wrinkles alike. Avocados are nature’s face masks.

Avocados are high in a natural antioxidant known as lutein. One avocado contains nearly 80 micrograms of lutein while supplements of the antioxidant contain only 10 mgs. Lutein filters blue light and keeps it away from healthy eye cells, improving your vision and even fighting against macular degeneration, or vision loss from retina deterioration. Any way that you enjoy avocados will lead to a direct improvement of your vision. Enjoying avocados over a long period of time will only improve your results.

According to the World Health Organization, nearly 350 million people around the world suffer from depression. Depression leaves sufferers in a sad and depressed mood which can cause them to lose interest in daily life and make living more difficult. The causes of depression can vary from biological imbalances to social sources of distress. One way to fight depression is with the foods that you eat. Avocados are packed with tryptophan, folate, and omega-3 acids. Omega-3 has a history of fighting inflammation and better regulating neurotransmitters.

Avocados are filled with fatty acids that can lower your bad cholesterol levels and raise the good ones. Eating avocados can help your gallbladder produce bile. This substance can help you break down your food more quickly as well as rid your body of any excess toxins. Add an avocado into your diet regularly to stay toxin-free.

Just like the benefits for your skin, many of the vitamins found in avocados are great for your hair. Make your own hair mask by using an avocado, olive oil, and an egg. Mix these ingredients together, spread on hair, leave it for 15 to 20 minutes, and wash it out for luscious locks.

Don’t keep the benefits of avocados to yourself. You can mash up it up and easily create your own baby food. Try combining avocado and sweet potato. Mix these together and store them in air-tight jars that you can break out later when baby gets hungry.
