Now, even if you don’t have a premium account, Youtube Music can also cast uploaded songs to the smart speaker. 9to5Google has confirmed the welcome change, which is just one of the many changes the app has undergone and will continue after Google Play Music is closed.

At the beginning of this year, Google introduced the ability to play your own music files on Youtube Music, no matter where you are from. However, as Ars Technica pointed out a few months ago, the free tier of the app cannot cast songs from your music library to the speakers.

Restriction can be the main cause of disappointment because it makes you feel that you don’t own the songs you have purchased. Fortunately, this is no longer the case. 9to5Google said that whether you are a paying customer or not, smart speakers will now appear in the Cast device list.

In other words, if you are a free user, the app will remove YouTube music albums and playlist tracks from the queue. A notification will pop up on the screen stating “Only uploaded music can be played on the speaker. Get advanced permissions to play all YouTube music.”

The tech giant launched YouTube Music a couple of years ago, but it’s only recently that it began ramping up the app’s feature releases.

It started shutting down Google Play Music in favor of YouTube Music in September, but you have until December to transfer your data out of the defunct service.
