Sokoto govt, Moroccan company to establish phosphate blending plant

Sokoto State Government is set to partner with the OCP Morocco for the establishment of a phosphate blending plant in the state.

The Governor of Sokoto, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal stated this in his remarks during a bilateral meeting with the team of OCP Morocco led by its Managing Director, Mohammed Hettiti at Government House, Sokoto.

Tambuwal said, Sokoto State has one of the largest deposits of high-quality phosphate in Nigeria, saying establishing the plant in Sokoto would be a big step towards making fertilizer readily available and affordable.

He further allocated 10 hectares of land at Kalambaina industrial layout in the state capital for the construction of the phosphate blending plant.

The OCP team together with Governor Tambuwal were led to the inspection round the land by the State Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Honourable Sirajo Marafa Gatawa.

The Governor assures that the process of issuing Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) for the allocated land would be expedited.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of OCP Morocco Mohammed Hettiti thanked the state government for giving them the opportunity to present their plan for the phosphate project.

Hettiti assured Tambuwal that the construction work for the factory would commence between December and January.
