CBN governor Emefiele to unfold new road map for CBN, economy

In keeping with his promise earlier this month to unfold a new road map for the CBN and the economy, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, will on Monday June 24, 2019 unveil his agenda for the next five years.

Director, Corporate Communication CBN, Mr Isaac Okoroafor who gave this hint on Saturday during an interactive session with labour leaders in Lagos said the governor will reveal new strategies to further deepen his people focused policies.

Emefiele had earlier promised to strengthen efforts to stir up growth and job creation in critical sectors of the economy in order to protect it from shocks from the global market.

The CBN boss, who spoke shortly after the oath of office was administered to him by the bank’s Secretary and Director, Corporate Secretariat Department, Alice Karau.

While emphasizing that the CBN will be more people-focused, Emefiele said his office will be active in the role of supporting job and wealth creation in the country.

Mr. Okoroafor during the session, evaluated the various intervention programmes being undertaken by the apex bank to revive the country’s financial system as well as supporting the productivity of the Nigerian economy.

He further noted that there is still more to be done to build an economy that is strong enough to withstand global economic shocks, stressing the need for stakeholders to support the bank’s efforts at building a stable system in the interest of the country.
