Meet: Lakshana

Meet Lakshana, one of my lovely friends. I asked her how she would like me to introduce her, so she answered: “Just a young woman striving to become the best Godly version of herself :-)”

This is an interview about how Lakshana became closer to God and how she turned a dull past into an inspirational platform.

How did you meet God?
I have always known who God was, but I didn’t know Him personally yet. It wasn’t until I was sixteen and had to wait for an important call to know if I passed all my exams, that’s when I saw God for who He truly is: Kind and loving.

I was still in high school back then as I studied Economics, teachers kept reminding us that we couldn’t fail Math. Unfortunately for me, I have always been weak in math. I can see you thinking right now: “Why did you pick Economics then?” Well, I wanted to choose a course that would motivate me more to do my best in school. Besides, Economics does come in handy for the future.

“I fell on my knees crying and praising God after calling them back.”

I was so nervous to receive that important call. While my mother was celebrating as if I had already passed my exams, I received the call.

They told me I didn’t pass my exams because I failed my math test. I had to decide to either skip math and still being able to graduate or re-take the test.

They didn’t have to ask me twice, so without thinking about it, I told them I wanted to skip mathematics. After hanging up the phone I started to doubt, I turned to my mom and was like HOLD UP! (lol) How am I able to graduate, if they kept reminding us that we had to pass our math exam in order to graduate at all?

I fell on my knees crying and praising God after calling them back. They said the rules were changed and nobody knew about it until then. That’s the moment when I knew God was with me and saw all my hard work. Whenever I read Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” It reminds me of that special moment each and every time, Jesus is real and He is for me, everything will fall into place.

“Throughout the day I strive to become the best Godly version of myself.”

Do you have a favorite Bible verse?
Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

What is your daily routine with God like?
Every morning when I wake up, I thank God for another day. Afterwards, I read my KJV Bible ( I also like to use the Bible app for reading plans or for research). Throughout the day I strive to become the best Godly version of myself, by letting His light shine through me. In the evening before I go to sleep, I pray The Lords Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13).

This verse reminds me that whatever I’m going through, as long as I put God at the center of it all, He will give me the strength I need to push through and break through.

If you would meet Jesus today, what would you say to him?
I have thought about this many times, but I think that no words will ever express how I truly feel about Jesus and his love for me. I think I’d just run to him, hug Him tightly and cry my eyes out for all that He has done.

What inspired you to share Gods word?
I was never the popular kid, and because of my past, I used to be very insecure. Sure I had some friends, but I had to become someone I wasn’t in order to keep them.

I always tried to find fulfillment in other people, in the hope they would take away my sorrows. But when I met Jesus, I realized He’s the only one who matters in a world where people are striving to fit in the perfect picture. I just want to show them that it’s okay to be different than others.

It’s okay to say no when others say yes. It’s okay to follow Jesus and His will for us even if others don’t. As long as God is for you, it doesn’t matter who’s against.

So that’s why I started using my Instagram platform to remind others of things I wasn’t reminded of by myself: You are not alone. Jesus got you!

A few weeks after I started posting about Godly topics on my Instagram, people started to send me DM’s saying how much I inspire them and that they went through similar things. That’s when I knew I didn’t only choose this for myself, it was my calling from God to help His children too! I’m very grateful that ‘till this day, I can inspire people with my story and journey and when people thank me for the things I post, I’ll always point them to Jesus. He deserves all the glory, honor and praise.

Any advice for the readers?
Even if you’re a thousand steps away from God, it’s only one step back, And then you’ll be able to experience His unconditional love, goodness, and mercy for yourself. Come to Christ as you are and He’ll mold you into the person you need to be. He laid down His life for you so you could be set free! He’s even knocking on the door — as we speak, waiting for you to let Him in… The question is: Will you open the door?
