Hi, ladies, today is International Women’s Day, which is celebrated every year on March 8 and it celebrates the movement for women’s rights.
The first celebration of a Women’s Day was held on February 28, 1909, in New York. The date of March 8 was suggested by the 1910 International Woman’s Conference to become an “International Woman’s Day.” After women gained a voice in Soviet Russia in 1917, from there on March 8 became a national holiday.
Back then this international day was celebrated by the socialist movement and communist countries until it was adopted in 1975 by the United Nations. Source: Wikipedia
On International Woman’s Day, women are getting recognized for their achievements in the social, economic, cultural and political field. This day can mean a lot of different things to different people, but its value stays the same.
According to the Bible, a woman’s price is far above rubies. She cares for her husband and children. “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.” Proverbs 31:30 How beautiful is that!
To me, International Woman’s day means that I can be proud to call myself a woman. A woman who knows her worth and deserves the same respect for hard work. I believe in being the best version of myself without being looked down on because I’m a woman. I believe that we as woman are fighters, stopping for nothing and no one that stands in our way to achieve what we believe in.
I believe in the single moms who had three jobs to support their children. The assistant who works day and night for a higher position. International Woman’s Day to me means thinking about Ugly Betty, True Jackson, and Girl Boss. The series I admired and who taught me that I can be anything I wanted to be. It means watching The Women and realizing that we as women, can rule the world. It might sound corny but it’s such an honor to be a woman, we can fight through any kind of pain and still go the extra mile to accomplish our goal.
Happy International Woman’s day lovelies!
