Once you have figured out how to start an online Business, you can exploit the many ways there are to promote it, such as blogging. Blogging raises your business’ search profile by proliferating your keywords. It also builds customer relationships. This is especially true if you are passionate about what your business offers.
A blog can become a venue to share your enthusiasm with your customers, share with them new ways to use your products and services, and more. It is also a great place to promote specials and new items in your inventory.
If you are new to blogging, though, all of the options and features offered by a service such as Wordpress can be a bit daunting. They should not be, though. Before you started your online business, you were probably a little suspicious about how to host a website, and you may have been nervous about getting that first affiliate-marketing tip. Once you got your business going, though, you should find that you get used to the functions and features of your web hosting company before you know it.
Blogging with WordPress is a lot like that. Because it is such a powerful tool with so many great features, it can be off-putting to a newcomer. The trick is to take things one-step at a time. You can start blogging right away with WordPress, so it will start having a beneficial effect on your business right away. However, you have the whole rest of your working life to learn all the ins and outs of its various features to make your blog better and better so take your time and enjoy yourself!
You can start with WordPress’ “Getting Started” page. This page includes all the information you need to set up your WordPress account and start writing your first blog. It also includes a link to the page about the “General Settings” page.
The “General Settings” page takes you through the steps of customizing some of the more basic and generally used features for your blog page. These include your blog title, your date format, and more.
While you are on these pages, you will notice that, to the right of the content, you will see links listed to help pages for other features related to the one you are currently reading. You can click on these links to start exploring your other customization options.
These pages are mostly text. Some people find reading instructions easy, others have different learning styles. If you find video tutorials more helpful than written instructions, YouTube is ready for you! You can just search on “how to use WordPress” and a number of great results will come up. EHow-wp.com has great tutorials and videos about WordPress, as well, such as this one.
You can also search for tutorials and help on Google, but “buyer beware”. Many of the hits you get on Google may just lead to videos-for-sale sites or promotional sites without a lot of useful information.
Do not forget to bookmark your favourite videos when you find them. Once you find something you like on the Internet, it can sometimes be trickier than you think to find it again! If you find videos or tutorial pages about WordPress that you like, you do not want to have to sift through endless search results to find them again.
Need more answers, or stuck on a particular feature of WordPress? Do not be shy about using their forums. You will find people in the WordPress community are ready and willing to help. Good luck and happy blogging!
