Have you ever lived the Slow life in a fast moving Metro ? Well, I shall try my best to elaborate this opening statement of mine!
The temperature is set, so are the lights, there is a voice going on and off at regular intervals, the atmosphere is conditioned yet you are left to live to your fullest of course in a controlled environment.
The metro is maintaining its speed and so is your life but while you’re there, inside this artificial box of real interactions, you don’t really have to think about a lot of things because this is a mini world !
Look, the kid sitting next to you is so restless to see the flashing lights and tall skyscrapers through the glass window, the infant who’s yet to recognise people around is making you smile and play peekaboo! That young lady over there is completely immersed in watching some series and the aunty next to her is peeping into her phone yet keeping it natural, that handsome dude is pretty sure he’s getting laid! Look at that young sparkling eyes staring at your laptop as you’re typing these minute observations and the senior citizen right opposite to you can’t stop bragging about how well Shikar Dhawan is performing and how Yuvi is an inspiration!
You can listen to your favorite songs, I got you one better, wear earphones but don’t listen to music. Oh boy! There’s so much happening and you are just so little. From small TV serial updates to juicy gossip to unconditional rants to crispy hot politics you can actually know about everything until the lady and gentlemen tell you to get down on the left or right, in a monotonous voice. Mind you, just listen, do not add to the conversation or react in any slightly possible way.
Of course there’s no natural light, gushing air, there’s no conductor being conductor or the driver in his full swag! You might not be able to sleep resting on the window while listening/talking to the people in your sweet regional language, I ain’t comparing a bus to metro because there is no possible way to compare the two. A biryani is a biryani and a pizza is a pizza! All I’m saying is, it might be crowded or it might be empty, it might be the peak time or odd time, no matter how much you rush or how fast the metro travels, the life in a metro is slow, beautiful and comfortable yet it is all inside a controlled box!
