Beyonce and Jay-Z Take a Helicopter Ride to Beat Traffic

The power couple, both multi-platinum artists, know how to live lavishly. Beyonce and Jay-Z recently rode in style when they opted for a helicopter ride. The helicopter ride took place in New York from one of the city’s heliports on Wednesday, October 4, 2017. The couple took their newly born infant children with them and not only managed to avoid traffic but to cut the time of travel by over two-thirds of the time it would take to drive the distance.

Beyonce and Jay-Z have 4-month-old twins—Rumi and Sir. Jay-Z was seen carrying the children in baby carriers. In addition, the twins’ big sister, Blue Ivy, was with the family as well. Blue was born on January 7, 2012. Sir and Rumi were born in June 2017. Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Corey Carter, is 47 years old. He has sold over 100 million records worldwide. Beyonce has an estimated net worth of $350 million. Jay-Z and Beyonce have been married since 2008.

It was the first time the family has been spotted in public in a while; perhaps they were trying to avoid too much attention by having their private helicopter ride?

While it was not confirmed where the couple and their family were going to or traveling from, they have recently acquired some real estate in the area. The superstars have a home in East Hampton, New York. Their Hampton home is roughly 35 minutes from the heliport. The 12,000 sq. ft. home is worth an estimated $26 million, has seven bedrooms, seven and a half bathrooms and sits on two acres of property.

It was not made clear which heliport the couple was coming from—there are at least three in the area of their house: NYPD Heliport, TSS Heliport, and Air Pegasus Heliport. The one closest to the couple’s house, which is on the Georgica Pond, is NYPD heliport. Driving this distance would take approximately three hours with “heavy traffic, as usual” (according to Google).

The average speed of a helicopter is approximately 160 miles per hour (the fastest helicopters travel at speeds of over 250 miles per hour.) This would considerably reduce the trip and completely avoid traffic. The trip is reduced to less than a third of the time it would take to drive the same distance.

Beyonce and Jay-Z are no strangers to helicopter rides. Back in 2012, the couple and their daughter Ivy climbed into a chopper to celebrate Jay-Z’s 45th birthday. That flight was no ordinary ride either—the two embarked on an Icelandic helicopter ride to see the countryside. (Beyonce can be seen wearing a headset with a speaker in one picture.)

On February 1, 2017, Beyonce announced that she was pregnant with the twins. On Instagram, she stated, “We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. – The Carters”

Sir and Rumi debuted on Instagram on July 14 when Beyonce posted a picture of herself holding the twins and announcing that they were one month old.
