Google Shares Wiped Out By $100Bn After Bard Makes An Error

Amid the ChatGPT wave in the AI software industry, Google finally announced its own AI chatbot, “Bard”, to give competition to its rival Open AI backed by Microsoft. On Wednesday, Google announced Bard, the all-new AI chatbot that will directly compete with ChatGPT in the upcoming months. The event occurred a day after Microsoft showcased the new AI features in its search engine Google. 

During this, a simple error made by Bard wiped out Google(Alphabet) shares by $100Bn. In between, when Google tries to compete against its newest rival, ChatGPT, An OpenAI software. The Bard shows an incorrect answer to the query, resulting in a share dip of 7%. On the other hand, Microsoft noticed a jump of 3%.

In the race for the best AI chatbot, ChatGPT dominates the market, with millions active since its release in November 2022.

A Google Spokesperson said on this, “We’ll combine external feedback with our own internal testing to make sure Bard’s responses meet a high bar for quality, safety, and groundedness in real-world information,”

The company declared the red flag between the speculations of Google’s replacement by ChatGPT in the future.  To create a complete blueprint for Bard, Google brought back its co-founders Larry Page & Sergey Brin. However, the top executives said that its new AI is still in the testing phase, and they take every feedback seriously to make it user-friendly.

Undoubtedly, Google reported a massive loss of $100Bn due to a single error made by its all-new ChatGPT rival.  Expecting the accuracy in answers of these AI tools is too soon at this stage. It is interesting to see how Bard will perform in the future.
