iPhones And Apple Watches May Arrive With MicroLED

Tech giant, Apple, is reportedly working on MicroLED displays to use in its iPhones and iWatches, by 2025.

According to Apple reporter Mark Gurman, the iPhone maker is expected to use Mircoled screens in the Apple Watch first and replace the OLED display currently used. Earlier this month, it was reported that the company was planning to bring MircoLED technology To Watch Ultra with larger displays.

Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu predicted that Apple Watch sales would drop in 2023 due to a ‘lack of significant spec upgrade’ and claimed that the 2024 Watch Ultra might adopt a MircoLED panel instead of an OLED.

Importance of MicroLED

MicroLED is a high-end display, and it has more benefits than an OLED display. It will support a higher brightness level and offer a more consistent colour output than OLED. Besides this, MircoLED panels are more efficient and less vulnerable to screen burn-in than OLEDs.

Reports explain that changes in display technology are significant when the company can offer improvements in aspects like power efficiency and battery life.
