Anyone is able to download the source code behind facebook’s user interface, Goldman Sachs’s data modeling program or even Google‘s Android OS and use its a building block for an extremely new project. What else, many of this software is actually developed jointly, maintained and designed by an army of thousands, from unpaid volunteers to employees at competing tech companies. This world is related to open-source software where code is written and shared freely.
