Does Social Media Effect What You Buy?

In recent years Social Media has started to take control of many people lives and in some cases effects how we behave, the world has now become accustomed to selfies and snapchat filters but has it started to effect what we buy.

All the large companies have Social media as it has become the main way to promote the newest products, platforms such as Instagram allow them to post pictures of what they want to sell and also give links to where you can purchase it.

Celebs or well known influencers can be paid to review products or paint them in a good light, in some cases they are willing to advertise the products only for the money and not actually like the products, as well as this some people will not admit to being advertising a product although most people are honest it can be unfair as many people will look up to them and believe what they are saying.

Platforms such as snapchat can receive payments to create a filter to promote a brand or product which if used and sent will promote it even further which I think is extremely clever as it helps build a large platform for the product itself.

Finally, if someone posts something on social media it has the strong ability to make people jealous and want to purchase it themselves or something they deem better.

Overall, it is in my opinion social media is replacing tv adverts and magazine adverts and will continue sky rocket making companies lots of money with a click of a button.
