Adobe Commerce 2.4.5: Everything About the New Release

Security Updates

You get 20 security fixes and improvements with this release. Here are some of them:

  • Included reCAPTCHA support to the Wish List Sharing, Create New Customer Account, and Gift Card forms.
  • Included ACL resources to Inventory.
  • Security improvements for Inventory template.
  • The HTMLPurifier library can now be used by the MaliciousCode filter.

Platform Improvements

  • With this latest update, Adobe Commerce is now compatible with ElasticSearch 7.17 on-premises.
  • Cloud-hosted deployments of Adobe Commerce 2.4.5 does not support ElasticSearch 7.11 or later.
  • With Adobe Commerce 2.4.5, OpenSearch is now the default search engine.
  • Adobe Commerce now supports Composer 2.2, TinyMCE (5.10.2), and jQueryUI (1.13.1).
  • Updated DHL Integration schema from v6.0 to v6.2.
  • Removed outdated dependencies and updated outdated JavaScript libraries to their latest version.

Performance & Scalability Improvements

  • Improved primary index performance by reducing the primary index number from 3 to 1 for the catalog_product_index_price_tmp table.
  • Significant reduction in indexing time.

Adobe IMS Integration

  • Adobe Commerce merchants can now integrate Commerce authentication with the Adobe IMS authentication workflow for effective Adobe Commerce and Adobe Business products login process.

B2B

  • Optimized database data required to implement the Shared Catalogs feature. Now, Adobe Commerce creates unique eSKUs for those directly assigned to a Shared Catalog.

Google Analytics

  • Adobe Commerce 2.4.5 now has a set of built-in modules to leverage the previous API for Google services integration, including Google AdWords, Analytics, Optimizer, and TagManager.

GraphQL

  • Customers will notice significantly quicker page loads whenever the GraphQL schema has to be rebuilt.
  • By using JSON Web Tokens (JWT) in the GraphQL API, Adobe Commerce has added the ability to intake the expiration date/time of the authorization token.
  • Merchants can now disable the session cookies creation for all GraphQL operations by using the command bin/magento config:set graphql/session/disable 1

New Payment Services

  • Apple Pay makes its way to Adobe Commerce to all the merchants running deployments who have enabled Payment Services. It is available on the product details page, mini cart, shopping cart, and checkout workflow.
  • PayPal Pay Later option is available for the merchants to offer to their customers in Italy and Spain.
  • Adobe Commerce has removed Braintree’s discontinued KOUNT fraud protection integration from its codebase.

PWA Studio

  • The new release of Adobe Commerce 2.4.5 is now compatible with PWA Studio v.12.5.x.
  • PWA Studio storefront now gathers customer behavior data for web analytics services.

Other updates

Accessibility Enhancements

  • Screen reader users are now informed of the search results summary information and when a new page view loads.
  • Improved keyboard accessibility and contrast.

Adobe Electronic Signature

  • Adobe Commerce allows customers to electronically sign customized agreements during checkouts, such as warranty documents, purchase agreements, and terms and conditions.

Brand and Style Modifications

  • Adobe’s brand strategy is now reflected in the admin area. Modifications have been to headers, footers, data grid color updates, and navigation elements.

Inventory Enhancements

  • Improved security for Inventory template.

Live Search

  • Adobe Commerce 2.4.5 now supports Page Builder v.1.7.2.
  • Improved Page Builder column layout.

Upgrade Compatibility Tool

  • UCT gives specific recommendations for resolving issues and recognizes code deprecations.
  • Method signature validation can now recognize changes that are incompatible within a method.

Adobe Commerce claims they’ve fixed hundreds of issues with the latest release in the core code.
