Keep Tabs on Your Kids With Sprint’s Safe & Found App

The app costs $6.99 a month but is jam-packed with features intended to give you peace of mind. View your child’s smartphone location in real time or set up “safety areas”—like home, school, or work—and receive alerts when they enter or leave those zones. There’s also an SOS button, which lets you send an emergency alert with your location to all Family Members at once.

The app also lets you restrict incoming email and calls to only trusted numbers, make sure installed apps are age-appropriate for your kid, and regulate their usage to certain times of day. It also filters out inappropriate web content and blocks certain apps from youngsters’ phones. Plus, if your phone is lost or stolen, you can use the app to locate, lock, and wipe it.

The app is available on iOS and Android, and Sprint is offering a 15-day free trial to new subscribers. The person paying for the app needs to be a Sprint customer, but you can add family members from different carriers to your Safe & Found account.

“With everything happening in the world today, this is a way for parents to stay connected to their kids, whether they’re 3,000 miles away traveling abroad or two miles down the street at school,” Kelly Clay-Slack, a parent who tested the app in beta, said in a statement. “Providing a tool that helps parents stay in touch, create safety plans, restrict numbers from unknown and potentially dangerous sources, and filter and block inappropriate apps is very reassuring.”
