Most of the people who are connected to social media knows that few months back one fact was fascinating everyone that NASA's internet speed is 91Gbps. When first I read that fact , I was shocked. I was so amazed as well as sad that time that I am not getting even of half of the speed Nasa is getting. Not even half, but also I am not getting the speed of the half of half of the speed NASA is getting. I always want to download GTA 5 on that massive speed. So today a simple thought arise in my mind that let's find the truth and let this fact be my first case.
I started to investigate about this. I searched many of the news website and many of the blogs. Some blogs claimed that the fact is true while other claimed that the fact is false. It started battling my mind. After searching for the long time, I came to an Quora Questions. Somebody asked the same question that is NASA really gets 91Gbps?
On this question, NASA's employee Robert Frost replied that Journalists had taken the information in wrong way. Its not actually the internet speed but it's file transfer speed from one computer to another computer through their national network named ESnet (Energy Sciences Network). This ESnet is used to transmit information regarding scientific research with different laboratories. He also uploaded the following image with his answer.
Even to confirm that Robert Frost is really an NASA employee, I checked his Quora profile and get to know that he is NASA's Flight Operations Directorate. He has been working since 10 years in NASA and had trained many astronauts.
So its not the internet speed which you used to browse websites but it's file transfer speed achieved by NASA during its ESnet testing which allows to send files from one laboratory to other at peak speed of 91GBps. So its totally false and I give it False Stamp.. CASE CLOSED....
