All you need to know about Toyota Yaris Showcased at 2018 Auto Expo

Toyota Yaris is coming soon to India. The Yaris, a mid-size sedan was showcased by Toyota Kirloskar Pvt Ltd at the recently concluded 2018 Auto Expo. The Yaris is expected to challenge the likes Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Ciaz. A very popular car in the South East Asian market, it will be positioned between Toyota Etios and Corolla Altis on India roads. How it is going to change market and preference of the buyers; here is what all you need to know about the Toyota Yaris.

Toyota Yaris – Specifications

The sedan will be powered by 1.5 litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine. The Power output will be 108 Bhp-140 Nm torque. The engine will be paired with 6-speed manual and 7-step CVT transmission. Earlier, the Yaris was offered in the international market with 1.3 litre engine but now new 1.5 litre petrol engine has been introduced recently. The Toyota Yaris will be offered in petrol engine only and no diesel engine option is available. If you compare the engine capacities of the competitors, the Honda City has 1,497cc, Maruti Ciaz has 1,373cc and Hyundai Verna has 1,591cc engines. See the comparison below.

The new Toyota Yaris comes loaded with other latest features like infotainment system, tyre pressure monitoring system, 60:40 split rear seat, adjustable neck restraints for rear passengers, power adjustable driver seat, roof mounted air-con vents with ambient lighting, front parking sensors etc. The Toyota Yaris will also measures very high on safety standards familiar to the Toyota brand. The Yaris has scored a full 5 stars in a recent crash test done by ASEAN NCAP which is the toughest measure. The safety features offered are all wheel disc brakes, 7-airbags including driver knee airbag, hill start assist, ABS with EBD and ESP etc.

On the dimension front, the Toyota Yaris fall short in length with its rivals Honda City and Maruti Ciaz except Hyundai’s Verna. The Honda City measures 4,440 mm, the Maruti Ciaz 4,490 mm and Hyundai Verna 4,370 mm long while the Toyota Yaris has a length of 4,424 mm. The Toyota Yaris has a shortest wheel base in the segment measuring 2,550 mm as compared to 2,600 mm of Honda City, 2,650 of Maruti Ciaz and 2,570 of Hyundai Verna.

Toyota Yaris – Price

The company has plans to manufacture the Toyota Yaris at the manufacturing facility in the state of Karnataka and is expected to use maximum possible indigenous components to keep the price competitive. It is expected that the Toyota Yaris will be priced somewhere within a range of Rs. 8.4 laks to Rs. 13.7 lakh on its launch.
