Bajaj Auto Ltd has launched its flagship motorcycle, the Dominar 400 in 4 colors; Matte Black, Moon White, Midnight Blue, and Twilight Plum. Now, we have a new option; the Bajaj Dominar Racing Red. The delivery of this new color option should commence real soon. The addition of the new Racing Red color scheme has no effect to the Bajaj Dominar 400 cost. Why the cost is still the same?
Simply because there isn’t any change in the motorcycle. It’s only an introduction of the new color scheme. Hence, it is safe to conclude that the Bajaj Dominar 400 Racing Red Color models will have same top speed, engines, mileage, and specifications as the standard motorcycle.
In the middle of this article, we also explain briefly about DTS-i Triple Spark technology. We all know the USP of Bajaj Dominar is its Triple Spark Plug technology. It uses three spark plugs to ignite the fuel. You know, in the conventional petrol engine design, there is only single spark plug. This technology can also be found in Bajaj Pulsar RS 200. But, what is its benefit? You will know when you scroll down.
And for those who want to know more about Bajaj Dominar 400 specifications, pricing, and mileage, read this article till finish. But, if you already know what the specifications of Bajaj Dominar are, I suggest you to read our other article.

As we mention before about BAL’s DTSi Triple Spark plug engine that embedded to this motorcycle, you may interested to learn more about it, right?
What you need to know about BAL’s DTSi Triple Spark Plug
It’s all about the combustion technology. Here’s a brief review of the technology and comparison with the single spark ignition like on Apache RTR 180, twin spark ignition like on Pulsar 220 F.
Combustion Technology
You are aware that the thermal energy from burning the fuel is converted to mechanical energy to run the vehicle. Higher the efficiency of the combustion, greater the energy available and hence better the efficiency.
CO Emission
CO emission is the result of incomplete combustion. Lesser the CO emission, better the efficiency. CO emission decreases with load in all three spark technology (whether it’s single, twin, or triple) because at high temperature, CO gets oxidized. But, CO emissions are highest for the single spark engine. It is because of incomplete combustion. Triple spark plugs improve the combustion and therefore the CO emission is least.
Hydro-Carbon Emission
In single spark engine, there is a higher UBHC emission because of incomplete combustion. In triple spark engines, we have lesser and better emission due to faster and better completion of combustion.
Advantages
The benefit of using DTS-i Triple Spark technology is its easier starting, less prone to plug fouling, no issues on cold air intake, and no chances of knocking. It also produces more output power and thermal efficiency.
Limitations
Until today, the technology is still costly. This Triple Spark DTS-i is heavier engine compared to twin and single spark engines. It also require high cooling (liquid cooled) engine. But the biggest concern about is faulty in ECu that can lead to malfunctioning of engine. The failure in cooling also causes severe damage to engine. The good news is, it’s rarely to happen.
Conclusion
Triple spark engine has 27% faster combustion process than twin spark and 50% faster than single spark due to faster flame propagation. Triple spark engine also has highest thermal efficiency. It is about 13% higher than single spark engine and is 5.1% higher than twin spark engine.
