Samsung Galaxy J6 Review

Samsung today launched Galaxy J6 with 3 more devices, adding 1 more to J series and 2 to A series. It was yesterday when Samsung announced four devices to be launched in the mid – budget segment, titled as Galaxy J6, J8, A6, A6+.

Samsung Galaxy J6

Let’s start the review of Samsung Galaxy J6.

DISPLAY

Samsung Galaxy J6 has a 5.6 inch screen size with Samsung’s own Super AMOLED display featuring Infinity Display. Infinity display was the main highlight because till now mid-budget segment of series wasn’t having Infinity Display till now.

It has a 16M color depth. It features 720 × 1480 pixels of resolution which means it’s just HD+ where in this budget we can get Full HD display and yes it supports multitouch too.

DESIGN

We did manage to get through the Galaxy J6’s design and we found that, it’s has a poly carbonate body. Galaxy J6’s physical dimension measures 149.3mm height, 70.2mm width and 8.2mm thick. It weights 157 gm which not so heavy. On the right side you will first get the speaker button which is still annoying from Samsung as it’s create problem when you are play games or watching videos for long time and second you it has the button. On the left side it features both the volume button and below the volume button SIM trays are located one for the SIM 1 and MicroSD card and the other for SIM 2 eliminating the Hybrid problem. On the front, at top you will get a LED flash, sensors a call speaker and it’s front camera from the right side and there is nothing at because of it’s Infinity Display. On the rear, from top it has a the rear camera with a LED flash positioned on the right to it while Fingerprint sensor is situated below to the rear camera. As everyone know there is Samsung Logo on the middle of back side. On top side you will get the second mic while on the below you will get a get a the first mic, a 3.5 mm headphone jack and USB port for charging the device.

PERFORMANCE

Samsung Galaxy J6 features Exynos 7870 chipset offering 1.6GHz CPU Speed with it’s Octa Core processor and GPU Mali – T830 MP1 which is not quite enough to play Games high graphics games but still it manages to plag most of the games available on the Google Play Store.old as we have seen the same in Samsung Galaxy J7 2015 models, that is the region Samsung needs to improve because if we go by the budget of Galaxy J6 we can get good competitors like Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and Huawei Honor 9 Lite. On the other hand Samsung however manages to introduce Android Oreo on Galaxy J6 which I think is the messiah, isn’t it? Samsung users are eagerly waiting for mid-budget devices to enroll the updates.

MEMORY

Samsung Galaxy J6 comes up with two variants one with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage and the other with 4GB RAM and 64 GB storage. It also supports external memory up to 256 GB which as always better and Samsung always backs their consumer with external memory support.

CAMERA

Samsung Galaxy J6 sports a 13.0 MP rear camera with aperture f/1.9 with a LED flash while still at that budget we can get the dual lens rear cameras, it has features like auto focus, touch focus, face detection, panoroma, HDR and more.

On the front a 8 MP camera is featured with a f/1.9 aperture which some how still remains ua the cameras on Galaxy J7 Prime and Galaxy On NXT. On front Samsung still continue to provide their mid – budget device a LED Flash which allows them to capture selfies in low light conditions.

Though Galaxy J6 has a resolution of 720p it still shoots video at FULL HD (1920×1080) 30 FPS from both the Camera.

All the network bands are available below,

On the connectivity department, for charging Galaxy J6 uses USB 2.0 USB Version. It supports Wi-Fi Direct while there is no NFC support and Antenna. Bluetooth 4.2 is available and so the wifi.

For the earjack Galaxy J6 uses the most commonly used 3.5 mm Stereo jack which is good because in India Type – C charger are still new and costly. Galaxy J6 uses GPS, Glonass, Beidou as location technology.

SENSORS

Again Samsung misses out many basic sensor like Ambient Sensor. Sensors which are in Galaxy J6 are Accelerometer,Fingerprint Sensor,Hall Sensor,Proximity Sensor and somehow its just okay to deal with it.

BATTERY

Samsung Galaxy J6 is packed with 3000 mAh battery. As per Samsung it’s video playtime is up to 17 hours and it’s good as we Samsung provides good battery life.

OTHERS

On Galaxy J6 videos can be played to FULL HD resolution of 1920×1080 even at 60fps which is interesting. It also has Gear support.

Price

Samsung Galaxy J6 is priced at Rs. 13,990.

Verdict

Samsung Galaxy J6 again gives a edge when it comes to it’s design and display but while display is something to watch we can’t get enough from Exynos 7 series processor which too old as we are experiencing some good chipset from Qualcomm. Again a Samsung’s device misses Sensor’s like Ambient while Android Oreo combined with Samsungs Touchwiz UI will be worth experience. Samsung Galaxy J6’s cameras are average on the paper but we think they will still manage to capture photos which will be worth in this budget.

Samsung Galaxy J6 Pros √

  • Super AMOLED Display.
  • Infinity Display, 18:5:9 ratio display.
  • Front LED Flash
  • Dual Sim + MicroSD Slot, no hybrid.
  • 3000 mAh battery life.

Samsung Galaxy Cons ×

  • Basic HD + display resolution i.e, 720p resolution.
  • Old Processor.

  • Cameras are average.

Now what do you think ? Does it worth buying or not. Make us know in the comments.
