What is renewable and is the term entirely correct or not?

The term of Renewable technology refers to those technologies that utilise renewable resources to produce energy of some form. Renewable resources, as Wikipedia explains us, are those that are able to naturally replenish on a human timescale, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves and geothermal.

That definition is somewhat Correct because by utilising renewable technologies we are not depleting any limited resources such as coal, oil or natural gas (fossil fuels) but can we call them “renewables” as they are not renewing or replenishing, they are just not finite.

The Oxford Dictionary defines renewable energy as follows: Energy from a source that is not depleted when used, such as wind or solar power. In this definition, there is no mentioning of replenishing, renewing or any similar word so are we or are we not defining it correctly?
