For so long, I lived for revenge. Now I live for her.
Ask anyone and they'll tell you that Quinn Blackwood is not someone you mess with. I see. I want. I take.
And you better not get in my way. That's how I built my billion-dollar empire. That's how I made my enemies pay. That's how I won the one good, pure thing in my life, Elyse "Lucky" Gilbert. But after what I've done, my luck may have run out.
There is a fine line between love and obsession.
I'm not a fool. I didn't think coming back to Quinn would be easy. That we would fall into a happy future and the darkness inside him would just disappear. Still, after everything we've been through, I couldn't leave him to fight his demons alone. I've tried to convince myself nothing else matters as long as we're together. But if I give him what he needs, will there be anything left of me?
This book is part of the Dark Desires series, you can check out my review on the first and second book here :

"Wicked S.O.B" is the novella continuing Quinn and Elyse's story from book one, Beautiful Liar. You can check out my review on Beautiful Liar, here. I would recommend checking the one out first before proceeding to read this review as there might be some spoilers from the first book.
Quinn Blackwood. A billionaire CEO. An asshole. Lover.
All his life, all he every know is revenge. For decades, the only thing that keeps him going is hatred. Hatred for his father. For the Blackwood name. Hatred for his past. And he plans to destroy all of it. A plan that takes a decade in the making. Not only does he plans on taking his father and the Blackwood legacy down, he also plans on taking himself down with them.
Quinn Blackwood has no qualms that he will not live past 30 years old. And he is fine with that, he has long made peace with his decision. That is, until he meets Lucky. She waltzed into his life, and turn it upside down.
“Where the need for absolute retribution held me together for the better part of a decade and a half, now it’s her. She’s the reason I live and breathe and make it through my day.”
Now he is 29 years old. He has had his revenge and he has Lucky. He has the one thing he wants most in this entire world by his side, Lucky. And yet, it does not soothe him. In fact, it does the e
xact opposite, it makes him worry. Every second of every hour of every day, he can't stop worrying that one day, she will realize that she has had enough, and she will leave.
Elyse Gilbert. Gorgeous. Defiant. Strong willed.
The day she chose to run away from the compound, Elyse has accepted her reality. There will never be a chance for her to live a normal life. Elyse knows that she will always spend the rest of her life on the run, always looking of her shoulder. Avoiding cameras. Jumping at every single sound or shadow. That was her reality.
Until she agrees on a very odd job interview, which lands her a job that leads her to Quinn. He is an enigma. Mysterious. Puzzling. She warns herself there will be no good to come from being involved with a man like Quinn. But despite her own advice, she finds herself irrevocably attracted to him. And before she knows it, she is already free falling.
“ In a world of unlikely possibilities, Quinn and I ending up together was one in a million.”
Now, after a year of being with Quinn, sometimes she still find herself having to explain to him just how much she loves and care for him. As of late, his worries and his paranoia has been getting worse. Elyse knows what he worries about, he fears the day when she'll leave his side, and it's eating him up from the inside. She wants to tell him that she will never leave, she wants to reassure him that she'll always be there. How can she leave him when he is her everything?
“But I’m realizing that there are some things that will break us. Like the blackness inside him that he ignores for long stretches.”
In this novella, readers are introduced back into Quinn and Elyse's world. I am so very glad that Ms. Cox decided to write a novella for them because I adore this duo. I can't never get enough of these two. Their chemistry, the way they interact with each other is just too perfect to be true. I honestly think these two deserve a series, I would love to see them grow more as characters and see what the future hold for them. Well, here's to hoping.
While before it is them against the world – now their battle is against themselves. In "Wicked S.O.B", Quinn seems to be battling against his own demons. He feels like he is at a loss. He is not sure what to do with his life now that he has gotten his revenge. The only thing he cherishes most in the world is Elyse, and lately, he seems to have uncovered an unhealthy obsession for her. On the outside, he is still the very calm and collected CEO that everyone has come to praise and respect, but inside, he is fracturing.
In this book, I got to see what I only had a few glimpse of at in Beautiful Liar. Quinn's vulnerability. Him at his lowest. I would say, despite it being a short read, this one packs more emotions than the first book. And after reading "Wicked S.O.B", I feel like adore them even more (if that's even possible) for their flaws and their desire to want to work through their flaws together.
There are also character growth from the first book. In this book, it shows how much Quinn has grown and learn. He is more willing to sacrifice his own needs for Elyse's, to put her needs above of his own. He is also not as hot headed and he is willing to listen to Lucky and her requests, which is what I like the most. Whereas, Quinn has been more open and forthcoming about his feelings than before, Elyse too has changed into a very strong and grounded character. I love that change in her in particular because it is very obvious that if not because of her and her strength, Quinn might have had given up on his life a long time ago.
For me, this book is quite an emotional rollercoaster. It shows just how much they are willing to sacrifice for each other, the lengths they are willing to go to make the other happy. It shows that relationship isn't always easy. It's messy and confusing. While they might be afraid and struggle to face their problems, at the end of the day, they know it will all be worth it and worth while as long as they have each other.
“She may be ripping my insides out, but I don’t have a choice. I love her.
I love everything she is, even when she’s driving me nuts.”
