Rambo: Last Blood will be Sylvester Stallone final appearance, playing the role of classic action character of John Rambo one last time – and the movie just got a release date, to be screened on September 20, 2019.

John Rambo is coming back, and this time, for the last time with Sylvester Stallone playing it. Lionsgate revealed that the fifth instalment of the 37-year-old Rambo franchise will be launched on September 20, 2019 – starring Sylvester Stallone. The name of the upcoming film happens to be Rambo: Last Blood; and this will be the last time that Stallone will be playing Rambo, beating his way through Mexican drug cartels and playing one of the most iconic characters that he ever played, for one last time on the screen.

It has been over three decades since we met Stallone as Rambo for the first time, and Rambo: Last Blood will feature the cinematic legend before the final drop of blood is spilled. The story would be about one of Rambo’s friend’s daughter being kidnapped, and he would – quite obviously jump in to help out, crosses the US-Mexico border and finds himself in one of the most violent Mexican cartels. This could be the best timed alignment of the film’s theme with the political buzz about US-Mexico border and “the wall” of real life – but what we look out for is a more original 1982 Rambo-feel than a rather “patriotic” one.

The script of Rambo: Last Blood has been written by Sly and Matt Cirulnick, and directed by Gringo director Adrian Grunberg. And Paz Vega, Sergio Peris-Mencheta and Yvette Monreal will be joining Sly for his last run, before he retires from Rambo. With a total gross of $728 million in worldwide box office from the Rambo franchise, and the highest earning instalment – Rambo: First Blood Part II bagging $300 million, Sly’s final Rambo screening has a tough benchmark to meet as it hits the cinemas on September 20.
