The much awaited luxury SUV by Maserati – the Levante has finally been launched in India and will join the Italian brand’s marquee of sports cars including Quattroporte, GranTurismo, Ghibli, and GranCabrio. Globally launched in early 2016 at the Geneva Motor Show, the Levante will be Maserati’s first SUV in India. So this launch will mark as Maserati’s latest addition for 2018, after a recent introduction of the 018 Maserati Quattroporte GTS. Made to deliver performance with style and luxury, the Levante will be available in three variants: Standard, GranSport and GranLusso. The Levante Diesel will cost Rs 14,512,054, Levante diesel GranSport will cost Rs 14,863,774 and Levante diesel GranLusso, and the topmost model will cost Rs 15,383,399.

Under the hood, the Levante comes with a 275hp 3 litre V6 Turbo Diesel, combined with the “Q4” intelligent all-wheel drive system – which can transfer torque between the axles instantaneously when required – and an 8-speed automatic gearbox, with integrated Start and Stop System. The power churned by the engine is enough for Levante to speed up from standstill to 100 kmph in just 6.9 seconds. Maserati claims that the Levante can do a top speed of 230kmph. And it comes with standard gadgetry like an electronic power steering with Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) package, which includes Highway Assist (HA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Active Blind Spot Assist (ABSA) and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR). Oh and Levante isn’t just a tarmac-scorcher but can also go off-roading as it is armed up with an all-wheel driving mechanism.

About looks, the Maserati Levante looks significantly muscular because of the gigantic front chrome grille with vertical slates and fiercely angled headlamps. The 18-inch alloy wheels, long bonnet and an aggressively raked C-pillar makes the Levante even more bold, elegant and fierce. Fir the interiors, the SUV adorns a leather seats, cruise control, hill descent control, climate control and 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Everything looks extremely posh inside out as it comes in premium leather, fine woods, platinum-effect metals, handcrafted contrast stitching, and much more. At the price, there won’t be many buyers, but it is about quality over quantity.
