Just the other day, whilst walking along a fairly busy street as the cars whizzed past me as if owning the ground on which tar had been poured on, I noticed a bunch of flowers lying strewn all over a section of the Foot Walk. As I was watching it I could see an elderly gentleman walk slowly over it whilst a young business woman in a sharp suit trampled all over the flowers whilst walking past the elderly old man.
As I stood there watching the flowers get trampled on the foot walk, I thought of the person who bought the same. Maybe, it was a man who just had his heart broken by his girlfriend or it was thrown away by a woman who didn’t think much of the flower or the man who gave her the same. Was Flowers the ultimate expression of love? I asked myself as I ruminated on the reason as to I thought of a lover’s quarrel when I saw crushed flowers on the foot walk.
As my mind moved away from the different premises a lover’s quarrel might have happened I thought over the anguish in the person’s heart when he threw the beautiful set of flowers away. Maybe he was a husband who just learnt that his wife died in the hospital when he was buying flowers for her or maybe the flowers spoke of a lost friendship?
Mabe just maybe I thought, none of the above was true and that the flowers would have simply slipped out a flower truck and fallen on the sidewalk. But the truth is this. Sharing flowers is an act of love and these flowers being trampled on means there must be a reason for the same. But then, love is nothing but an emotion which crushes your heart in the end.
