Here’s 10 post NYE tips to get back to normal after a great night! Perhaps you simply stayed out til the wee hours of the morning at home, perhaps with family or maybe you spent the night testing your liver function in a crowd full of like-minded people. Either case, one or more of these hacks can be of benefit to you:
Use natural oils to remove glitter from hair and skin. Olive oil works best for Hair, coconut for skin. Rub oil in circles on the skin for 2-3minutes, then dip a cotton ball or pad in warm water and rub off. For clothes, spray the garment with aerosol hairspray, let dry, and then machine wash (by itself).
2. BANISH BODY & HEADACHES BEFOREHAND
Take 500mg acetaminophen (1 extra strength Tylenol) with 1000mg ibuprofen before bed. Also, one bottle of water in between every alcoholic beverage is extremely beneficial.
3. BE HANGOVER-FREE
B vitamins: A good B-complex with 3-4 grams of B1 is a must if you’re having more than a couple drinks. Take your B vitamins before you start Drinking.
Alpha lipoic acid: ALA is a potent antioxidant on its own and helps your body produce glutathione. Take about 400 mg before you start drinking.
N-Acetyl Cysteine: NAC is a precursor to glutathione and a great nutrient for liver support. Take 600 mg of NAC before you start drinking and before bed that night.
Also, avoid computer screens, laptops, or tablets – the screens (no matter how dim) can trigger a headaches and nausea after a long night of festivities.
4. FEEL ALIVE
Get at LEAST 4hr of sleep, then get moving. Go to the gym, exercise outside, get the blood flowing and the energy going.
5. CARRY THOSE BAGS AWAY
Place ice masks over your eyes at night. Put crushed ice in a doubled zip-lock (pound it a bit if you want smaller ice chips). Lay it over your eyes for at least 20min, if not overnight. Also, if you can manage to place them without them falling off (I haven’t been able to master that), close your eyes and place slices of cooked cucumber on them.
6. WAKE UP WELL
Instead of a startling alarm or loud, abrupt noise, choose an alarm with a gradually increasing tone. Waking up peacefully reduces potential of headaches caused by shock. May I recommend “Unfold” Alina Baraz (Click for video)
7. PRE/POST PURGE
Eat a clove of raw garlic in the morning. Chew a clove well enough to swallow, the allicin you’ll smell will begin to release from the clove as the skin is broken by your chewing. Chew it just enough to release those sulfur compounds and vitamins by chewing it up, then swallow it whole. You’ll feel the affects as it starts to fight off bacteria and antioxidants and helps prevent infection, cold, flu.
8. INCREASE BLOOD FLOW
Stretch for (30-45 sec), I recommend doing so after a hot bath/shower. Pull your hair, sounds funny but it stimulates blood flow.
Exercise. Regular aerobic activity is ideal. Combine with a light resistance and you’ll get added benefits.
9. TEA FOR TODAY
Chamomile – relaxation and sleep aid
Peppermint – antibacterial, antiviral aid
Ginger – antioxidant and anti-nausea
Lemon – anti-stiffness
Rosehip – anti-inflammatory
10. EAT BEFORE BED, SMALL MEALS THROUGH THE DAY
Give your body something to feed off of and if you’ve been drinking, something to absorb the alcohol.
When you rise eat plenty of small, healthier meals. Protein pancakes, turkey bacon and egg whites or salmon salad, roasted potatoes and lean chicken breasts, green veggies and fruits.
Try these tips on a daily basis or just when you need to rejuvenate. Know better, do better.
