Movie Review: Mubarakan

Cast: Anil Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Ileana D’Cruz, Athiya Shetty, Neha Sharma, Ratna Pathak Shah, Pavan Malhotra and Rahul Dev

Executive: Anees Bazmee

Snappy take: An uproarious comic drama that will put a grin all over

Rating: 3/5

Mubarakan spins around twins Charan and Karan (Arjun Kapoor) in a twofold part. The passing of their folks when they were babies prompts their uncle Kartar Singh (Anil Kapoor) to pack Karan with his senior sister (Ratna Pathak Shah) in London and Charan with his senior sibling (Pavan Malhotra) in Chandigarh. They grow up with various identities. While Karan is more road brilliant, Charan is somebody completely devoted to family. Both covertly have lady friends, Sweety (Ileana D’Cruz) and Nafisa (Neha Sharma) individually. Inconvenience blends when Karan is to be hitched to tycoon Sandhu’s (Rahul Dev) little girl Binkle (Athiya Shetty) and he sends over Charan rather to London. A parody of mixed up personalities with the additional task of frayed inner selves follows, with everything being tied conveniently at last by Kartar Singh.

Chief Anees Bazmee knows how to make outfit movies. He comprehends what masses like also. The film is a smidgen boisterous, more exaggerated than comedies should be yet he takes care of business. The best thing about the film is that it doesn’t take into account generalizations. It doesn’t jab fun on the Punjabi culture or Sardars. Nor does it enjoys can amusingness or two sided sayings. It depends on circumstances for the muffles and they do convey grins and significantly giggling. Also, Bazmee and his composition group do have their snapshots of roused frenzy too. There is a scene where Sanjay Kapoor, who is the dead father of Charan and Karan, shows up as a phantom. What’s more, since he’s come straight from paradise, a heavenly attendant is sent as a protector. So you have the blessed Messenger guarding the parameter as Anil and Sanjay have a face to face chat.

Another savvy thing done by Bazmee is that he’s taken put stock in entertainers in the cast. Ratna Pathak Shah and Pawan Malhotra can be generally depended upon to convey the products and they do as such here also. They look like much-enamored kin who have given the self image a chance to hinder their love. Anil Kapoor too is a hoot as the tender uncle who needs everything to turn ideal for his family. It’s the little touches he conveys to his character that has a significant effect on the film. He’s a joy to watch and removes your psyche from the film’s blunders. Arjun Kapoor has endeavored to convey variety to his twin parts and has to a great extent been successful. He’s preferred as the resigned Charan over the outgoing person Karan. Ileana D’Cruz too has her minutes as Karan’s commanding sweetheart. Neha Sharma and Athiya Shetty are immaculate eye candy.

With everything taken into account, while Mubarakan experiences a stressed and unsurprising plot, its preposterousness does makes you snicker. So go watch the film if enjoying their hours of idealist parody is your diversion…
