Treasures can indeed be found in the most unlikely of places. On one beautiful spring afternoon, I headed out to change my old worn out Tires. After searching the internet to find locations close to me, I settled on one that had the title “Fast tire center”. Count me in on fast. I dread long waiting times to get simple chores done. Little did I know that I was about to have more than a simple tire change. My day was about to be made brighter by one Roberto, a mechanic at the “Fast Tire Center”. R.oberto makes some of the most amazing items from used worn out tires. He makes flower pots and decorative pieces from them
Old tires are one of the most notorious environmental wastes. The vulcanized process by which tires are processed make them impermeable to UV light hence almost impossible to decompose. Tires can be dug out of the ground hundreds of years later after they are buried. They can also serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes and if they are left out to collect rain water. So meeting Roberto with such a genius craft was such a delight to me. His craft was not only beautiful but for a scientist like me it was a great means of recycling this notorious environment waste.
So the next time you need a tire change and and get something else on the side, try the Fast Tire Center in Manassas in Virginia.
