2019 Mercedes GLA comes with the new Shape

The Mercedes plots to discharge a refreshed Front-Wheel Drive compact crossover known as 2019 Mercedes Gla. We recently spied the GLA prototype in the open testing ahead of the 2019 debut date. It looks more like the regular five-door hatchback, albeit minor alterations are evident, such as wheel arch extensions and increased ground clearance.

The automaker has stretched the width and wheelbase, so the stability has been improved. The wheelbase extension also provides extra passenger space inside. They’ve updated the engine and powertrain along with the exterior that currently undergoes a noticeable revamp. The inbound GLA becomes more mature and spacious, retaining an expressive styling. The new sports compact crossover also gets minor modifications around the rear and front ends, along with modern fog lamps and optional LED headlights. 2019 Mercedes GLA – Exterior and Interior Design

Essentially, the upcoming 2019 Mercedes GLA mirrors a typical A-class prototype because it highlights the A-Class platform. However, we get to see slight differences, such as larger wheels, a higher ride height and what appears to be a slightly extended track. Up front, there’s an aggressive hood. The front bumper comprises new headlights resembling the AMG GT, its distant cousin.

Wheels come with protruding fender flares that mirror what we saw on the E-Class All-Terrain concept shown in the recent past. Moving back, the hatch also appears to convey a new rear spoiler, a reshaped rear fascia and modified taillights. Changes are also apparent inside, where the future Mercedes GLA treats us to all-new cabin architecture. The level of technology and finish applied to the inbound GLA are in line with significant aspects of the new E-Class edition.

The cabin of the 2019 Mercedes GLA gets subjected to a severe overhead. And, this time we get larger digital displays, plush materials and a simpler dashboard layout that is easy to use. Besides, our new GLA receives Mercedes’s latest semi-autonomous Driving Assistance Technology. Many novel features come as standard, though we also have others availed as optional. Other notable elements gracing the GLA package include Distronic Plus with Steering Assist and new Parking Assist.

Engine and MPG of the 2019 Mercedes GLA

The 2019 Mercedes GLA comes standard with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder inline gasoline powertrain. The supposed unit cranks out about 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It is also hooked to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that delivers the solid response. EPA ratings are healthy, with the engine recording 24 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.

The automaker claims the engine will get a more robust build to suffice the off-road capability. Furthermore, the inbound GLA will receive many features that prove handy as far as driveability and performance are concerned. It comes standard with a parking assist feature, and Mercedes’s renowned semi-autonomous driving assistance technology comes as a premium add-on. This tech feature would enable hands-off driving on highways as well as less-crowded roadways.

Release Date and Cost

The 2019 Mercedes GLA is expected to make a formal debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show in September, where it goes on sale in early 2018. Pricing is likely to increase a bit, so the entry-level 2019 Mercedes GLA model starts at $33,000. This value is inclusive of the destination charges. Stay tuned for more updates as soon as they arrive at our news desk.
