The Miss Universe pageant was established in June 1952 to empower and celebrate women of all backgrounds. It is a global event that provides a platform for women across the world to realize their goals through various experiences that build self-confidence and generate opportunities for success. Miss Universe is an annual international beauty pageant that is run by the United States–based Miss Universe Organization. It is one of the most watched pageants in the world with an estimated audience of over 500 million viewers in over 190 territories.
The most beautiful women of India who was crowned as Miss Universe are:-
- SUSHMITA SEN:- She was crowned as Miss Universe in 1994, by defeating the most gorgeous women of Miss Colombia and Miss Venezuela. She is an Indian actress and model. At 18, She also won Femina Miss India 1994 . The final competition score out of 10, she had was 9.253 in preliminary average, 9.562 in interview, 9.722 in swimsuit, 9.792 in evening gown, 9.692 in semi final, 9.667 in top 6 question. She is the first actress from India who won this title.
She said “Just being a woman is a gift of God that all of us must appreciate. The origin of a child is a mother, who is a woman. She shows a man what caring, sharing and loving is all about. That’s the essence of being a woman.”
- LARA DUTTA :- She was crowned as Miss Universe in 2000, by defeating the most gorgeous women of Miss Venezuela and Miss Spain. She is an Indian actress and Entrepreneur. She was crowned as Miss Intercontinental in 1997 and is also the recipient of various accolades including a Film fare Award. The final competition score out of 10, she had was 9.44 in swimsuit, 9.40 in evening gown, 9.42 in semi final average, 9.95 in top five questions. It was the second time that India has won the title.
She said “I think pageants like the Miss Universe pageant gives us young women a platform to foray in the fields that we want to and forge ahead, be it entrepreneurship, be it the armed forces, be it politics. It gives us a platform to voice our choices and opinions and makes us strong, independent that we are today.
- HARNAAZ SANDHU:- She was crowned as Miss Universe in 2021, by defeating the most gorgeous women of Miss Paraguay and Miss South Africa. She has also worked in Punjabi films such as “Yaara Diyan Poo Baran” and “Bai Ji Kuttange”. She holds multiple titles like Femina Miss India Punjab 2019 and Miss Diva Universe 2021. This is India’s first victory in 21 years, and its third in the history of the pageant. The scores are still not out.
She said “The biggest pressure the youth of today is facing, is to believe in themselves. To know that you are unique makes you beautiful. Stop comparing yourselves with others and let’s talk about more important things that are happening worldwide. Come out, speak for yourself, because you are the leader of your life. You are the voice of your own. I believed in myself and that is why I am standing here today.”
