India is well known for its heritage and culture all over the world. The culture and heritage of Indian kingdoms are stored in different museums to protect the memories of ancestors. Not only this, there are different museums according to science and fiction.

The Government of India has taken museums as a prestigious to save the heritage of India.The top 10 museums in India which attract the tourists of different countries.

  1. National Museum

National Museum is one of the largest museums in India. This museum was equipped with diverse articles of an ancient era. It was constructed on 1949 in the corner of Janpath in Delhi. We can experience the life of kings by the luxury coaches of a train in this museum. This museum is the collection of jewelry, decorative arts, paintings, manuscripts etc. We can find the remnants of Gautam Buddha.

Timings: 10:00 A.M to 06:00 P.M (Tuesday to Sunday).

  1. Government Museum

Also known as Madras Museum, Government Museum is located in Egmore, Chennai. It was established in 1851 and placed for so many varieties of zoology, geology, and anthropology. The kingdom of South India times can be clearly viewed under the kingdoms of Chalukyas, Chola, and Vijayanagar. There is a special section for children and well-maintained library for book lovers.

  1. Salar Jung Museum

Salar Jung Museum is located in Hyderabad. It is a collection of textiles, artifacts, clocks, carvings from various other countries like North America, Nepal etc. The Salar Jung Museum was acknowledged as an Institution of National Importance by the Parliament of India. The museum is open for all days except Friday.

Timings: 10:00 A.M to 5 P.M (Mon-Thu & Sat-Sun).

            4.   Indian Museum

Indian Museum was located in Bengal and it was established by Asiatic society in 1814. This museum has a great collection of armors, Mughal Paintings, and ornaments. It includes six sections containing five galleries of scientific and creative works. It one of the oldest museum in the world.

Timings: 10:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M (Monday to Sunday).

  1.    Calico Museum

One of the best tourist museums in Ahmedabad is Calico Museum. This museum was established by Gautam Sarabhai and his sister Gira Sarabhai in 1949. It is a great place for the collection of different fabrics, cloth paintings of Indian fabric. The fabrics that are displayed in this museum were once used by the Mughal rulers.

Timings: 10:30 A.M to 12:30 P.M (Mon & Fri)

1:00 P.M to 5:00 P.M (Tue, Thu, Sat).

  6.   Napier Museum

This Napier museum is the oldest museum located in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The name of it came from the Governor of Madras. It is a place for the collection of historic artifacts such as Kathakali puppets models, musical instruments etc. We can define the glory of Kerala by visiting it.

Timings: opens 10:00 A.M to 4:45 P.M. closes on Mondays, Wednesday’s forenoons.

  1.    Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya

India’s one of the best museums which was located in Mumbai. This museum was equipped with collection of three main sections of the natural history section, art section and archaeology section. It includes rare coins, sculptures, and old firearms etc.

Timings: 9:00 A.M to 10:00 P.M (Monday to Sunday).

  1. Jaigarh Fort Museum

Jaigarh Fort is one of the best museums in Jaipur, Rajasthan. It depicts the royalty of Rajasthan kingdom in past. It is a place for the collection of the Rajputana and Mughal architecture. By visiting this museum we can experience the royalty of Rajasthan.

Timings: 10:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M (Monday to Sunday).

     9.  Hawa Mahal Museum:

Hawa Mahal is a Palace in Jaipur, Rajasthan. It was established by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1983. The construction of this fort carried by red and pink stone. This Palace is famous for carvings on the walls show the skill of artists of that period. The sculptural heritage that available here are Ganeshwar, Raid, Virat Nagar etc and exhibition things are antiquities, arrowheads etc.

  1. Bhau Daji Lad Museum

Dr.Bhau Daji Lad Museum was an ancient museum which is located Byculla East, Mumbai. It was established on May 2, 1872, and during that time it was known as Victoria and Albert Museum. This museum depicts the collection of arts of the 19th century like historical photographs, maps, and clay models.

Timings: 10:00 A.M to 6:00 P.M (Monday to Sunday).
