Hopes and Dreams

"If you can Dream it , you can do it!" - Walt Disney
~

I've always been a dreamer. For many of my younger years, I imagined my name in bookshop windows, or on film credits. However, those dreams were materialistic and partly selfish, because I didn't want those things for the right reasons, I just dreamt of being famous.

Now, a teenager, having had quite a few challenging experiences imposed upon me, I have realised what it means to really have an ambition, and to do everything humanly possible to get there.

I've always been the career type, something my parents encourage, in their hope that I will do what they never did, and that I, unlike them, will seize the opportunity to go to University.

I want more than anything to have a career as a Barrister, (preferably in Prosecution), and though I could follow in my mother's footsteps, and Spend every day looking at the smiling faces of children, I will choose to spend my working life getting victims the justice they deserve and striving to free society of those like the man who has changed my life forever. Yes, good lawyers earn excellent money, but if ever I have a family, I will wish it to be very clear, that 'Mum' doesn't do it for the money, she does it because she loves it, and because she helps people.

I know this puts pressure on my to achieve good GCSE results this year, to spend 2 years at college studying largely more academic subjects than many of my friends, and that University may not always be fun and games, but a lot of work. However, you have to be willing to make the necessary sacrifices.

If your dream is to sing, or to dance, or to write a best-selling book series, or direct films - you can do that! Work hard, and you will get where you want to be. Similarly, if your dream is to teach, or to nurse, - you can do that! It will be rewarding, and hopefully, you will be happy. Whilst it may be important to be realistic, no dream is completely unobtainable, so really, forget realistic, and just dream the dream that fills you with happiness, and work as hard as you can to make it a success.

With love and best wishes for all your dreams,
Beth xx
