I felt like changing it up again, because my creative juices are in full flow :)
So, today, I was thinking about re-reading The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins, and I starting contemplating how much the premise scares me.
The idea that Panem is a futuristic, dystopian America, where there are rebels, war, Suffering and superiority, excites me, and simultaneously frightens me more than anything. I hope, that, by the time we, as a human race get to the point in the future that The Hunger Games is set, we will, as a race, have moved forward from the suffering, and the bigotry that currently features in our daily lives.
Currently, despite the fact that some aspects of life are moving forward rapidly - technology for example, many aspects of life are experiencing a period of little change, or are in some cases, moving steadily backwards. This has been especially highlighted to me as a result of recent political change, and I am worried about a lot of the racism, homophobia and transphobia that is re-surfacing.
I am concerned that this type of unacceptance, and also the current refugee crisis that many countries are experiencing, will cause a larger scale problem, such as war, and that soon, the whole world will be experiencing more suffering than has already arisen.
Okay, so that quickly diverged from The Hunger Games into my issues with society, but I think that was kind of what I was going for, maybe, I'm not actually sure. Cue photo of me worrying about the world..... but quite glamorously I must say!
I urge you to be remorseful, respectful, and responsible, because if we all do that, society might pull through.
