Toya Wright is redefining motherhood with her daughters, Reign Rushing and Reginae Carter, by her side. The T.I. & Tiny: Friends and Family Hustle star graces the cover of Kontrol magazine’s latest issue with her baby girl, Reign.
“My mother didn’t raise me but she’s always been a loving mother,” Toya says of her upbringing. “My mom is the free sprit, go-with-the-flow type. I’m a little more structured when it comes to my life and my kids.”

The structure includes Toya having a strict morning regimen for Reign and serious advice about life for Reginae. “Things are so different this time around,” Toya says of the wisdom that she now possesses. “When I had Reginae I was extremely young and didn’t know the first thing about being a mom. I’m more experienced now.”
Many of the negative experiences that Toya Wright endured as a teen mom are why she highly encourages her oldest daughter, Reginae, to stay focused. Still, Toya understands the need for independence, which is why the celebrity mom gives advice and lets her daughter be free to figure out the rest.

When discussing the most significant gifts that she has received on Mother’s Day, Toya tells Kontrol that her oldest daughter gave her a timeless keepsake a few years back.
“Reginae made me a card and painted her handprints and a drawing of me and her on the T-shirt,” Toya says of the specially crafted Mother’s Day gift that her oldest daughter made. “It was the sweetest and most thoughtful gift I had ever received because it came from my daughter,” Wright added. “I still have it that T-shirt,” the celebrity mom added. “I’ll keep it forever.”

Mother’s Day is a time when children go the extra mile to show appreciation to their moms. Toya Wright, however, believes that the spirit of the holiday should be a daily occurrence.
“I think we should celebrate mothers every day not just once a year,” Toya shares. “Give your mothers flowers while she can still smell them. Shower her with your love as much as you can.”
