Angelina Jolie is all about teaching her daughters life lessons. The actress-turned-director tells former Secretary of State John Kerry what she shares with Zahara, Shiloh, and Vivienne on a consistent basis.
“I tell my daughters, ‘What sets you apart is what you are willing to do for others,'” the celebrity mom says. “‘Anyone can put on a dress and makeup. It’s your mind that will define you. Find out who you are, what you think, and what you stand for. And fight for others to have those same freedoms. A life of service is worth living.'”
Jolie also delves into her relationship with politics and patriotism. “I’m very patriotic,” she reveals. “For me, it goes hand in hand with being proud of what America stands for. For instance, I’m the only person in my house who was born in America. It’s only because we are a country based on people of different backgrounds and faiths coming together that I can have this family. My daughters have the freedoms they have because of being American. And we are at our best when we are fighting for others to have the same rights.”
Angelina Jolie has certainly worked to spread awareness about the inequalities in the world. The celebrity mom has partnered with several causes over the years to help the marginalized and has focused much of her creative attention on telling stories of bravery from those living in developing nations. Jolie’s latest flick, The Breadwinner was so moving that many forgot about the movie being an animation long enough to focus on the message of women having the same capabilities as men to be heads of households.
You can definitely expect to see more from Angeline Jolie and her kids in coming months. The celebrity mom parents six children with her ex-husband, Brad Pitt.
