#BlackGirlMagic is about to grace the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea as 17-year-old Maame Biney has just made history, becoming the first African-American woman to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Team for speed skating.

With two victories in the 500-meter race, Biney has definitely made her mark on the ice.
“I can’t believe it, aww geez,” said Biney in an interview according to the Associated Press. "It's a really good feeling, but it has to set in first because it takes me a while. I’m like, ‘Holy cow.’"
Biney, who is from Reston, VA is the second black speed skater on the U.S. Olympic team behind 19-year-old Shani Davis, who qualified for the short-track team in 2002, switching to long track and winning four medals, two of which were gold.
We are all cheering for you, Maame, especially her father who sported a sign during her qualifying race-“Kick Some Hiney Biney.”
The 2018 Winter Olympics kick-off on February 9, 2018 on NBC.
