I have oily skin which means I get clogged pores. So I use alot of scrubs and alot of charcoal. When I heard about a new charcoal Scrub from Bioré I was curious. When I saw that it was part of a self love line with rose quartz I knew I had to try it for Valentine’s Day.
I found the rose quartz + charcoal scrub on Amazon for about 7$ for a 4oz tube. This sounds small but a little seems to go a long way. I would say this tube would probably last me a while even using it twice a week.
This scrub is exactly what is sounds like, an exfoliator with charcoal and rose quartz. The charcoal is meant to draw out impurities and help with oily skin. The rose quartz is meant to add self love, energy, and happiness. Basically this scrub is meant to take out the nasties and add some good vibes.
When I first used this scrub I squeezed about a quarter sized plop. That ended up being too much. Like I said before, a little goes along way. This first thing I noticed was how pretty the scrub is. It’s a light pink sparkly gel with granules in it. It definitely reminded me of a rose quartz stone. The next thing I noticed was how great it smelled.
As I applied the scrub to my face I was hit with a strong cooling sensation. It felt like someone had hit my face with an Altoid. Once I got over this I rubbed the scrub in gentle circular motions to exfoliate my skin. And exfoliate it did. The granuals are small but mighty. This scrub felt a bit harsher than what I would usually use.
I didn’t feel any irritation or drying with this scrub. Unfortunately my face did turn a bright red after using this and it took a while to fade. My face does feel cleaner and smoother but I dont think I will use this scrub 2-3 times a week like the company recommends.
All in all this scrub was decent enough. It did seem a bit more abrasive than the one I usually use. But it cleaned my face well enough with minimal drying. I would recommend this scrub but with a warning to be gentle.
