First Day on the Job Outfit Inspiration + Tips

I recently landed a new role at a company I’m thrilled to be a part of. So of course I wanted to look great my first day! Here is my Outfit I wore for my first day of work plus some tips on picking out an outfit that will make an impression.

Tip #1: Don’t Overdo It with Embellishments

Unless you’re working for a company in the fashion industry, leave any crazy pieces you have aside. This includes cutout shoulders, large jewelry, and any other unusual workplace attire. The last thing you want to worry about on your first day is whether you’re going to stand out because of your clothes. Choosing something subtle will help you feel more comfortable while you observe what everyone else wears regularly.

Tip #2: Where Something Comfortable But Still Appropriate

In my outfit, I chose fitted black slacks that are easy to wear and don’t cause any discomfort. I also chose a loose, sleeved, blouse that is breathable in case my office was hot. Wet underarms is not a cute look. Avoiding outfits that are too tight is also good for establishing a good first impression. For my shoes, I opted for a chunky heel in gray. Not having to worry about balancing in heels, can make the day easier.

Tip #3: It’s Okay to Overdress

Unsure of what the office attire is? It’s better to be overdressed than underdressed. My office is very business casual, meaning we can wear jeans, T-Shirts, and sandals. However, I still dressed in black slacks and a nice blouse to give off a good first impression.
