The students of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi (ATBU) had been reported writing their second semester examinations despite the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) industrial action.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), ATBU students had started their examinations last week and won’t conclude until the 19th of November 2018.
A student who spoke with NAN said the students of the institution do not know that ASUU is on strike.
“We are in our second week of examinations and the exams will be concluded on the 19th of this month November.
“As a matter of fact, we don’t know ASUU is on strike because our exams are going on smoothly. We are only aware of the Labor strike which was suspended.
“All the same, we are begging them to allow us to finish our exams before joining the strike.”
Adamu Babayo, chairman, ASUU ATBU chapter said the institution would soon hold a congress to decide whether to join the industrial action or not.
