Meditation for all ages. I am a member to The Go-To Parents Community on Google +. They posted an interesting article on a new alternative to detention fromdoyouyoga.com
An Elementary school in Baltimore, MD. had started something new. Instead of sending a child to detention they are send to a room called "mindful moments". This room is where they will learn to self reflect on their thoughts and actions Shinning a light on different ways to deal with the situations they are in.
This technique helps the children relax, relieve stress and anxiety. These three feelings are the largest contributions to bad behavior. The results are amazing, this article comes with a video and is well worth your time.
I believe this works. I use breathing techniques to help my children calm and destress. My daughter claims it doesn't work for her but seeing her try from my side it helps, just differently for her. Every child is different so the response to the techniques will differ. It does take time and patience from the parents, keep in mind. Best again to start as soon as young as possible. I see it work as soon as they know the word "NO". Below I have one of the best Meditation music discs/downloads by Steven Halpern. You can also find samples on YouTube.
