#Trump420

The start of Donald Trump’s reign in office could begin under a thick cloud of weed smoke as pot activists plan to hand out 4,200 hand rolled joints for free in very close proximity of where the speech will be given on January 20th.

The DC Cannabis Coalition (DCMJ) was first created in the spring of 2013 by frustrated residents in the District of Columbia, growing tired of the outdated Marijuana laws. In July of 2003, DCMJ transferred to the DC Cannabis Campaign to pass Ballot Initiative 71 and in the spring of 2015 converted back to DCMJ – a community group of protesters fighting for equal cannabis rights in all 50 states and Washington DC.

In short, the Initiative 71 was “Legalization of possession of minimal amounts of marijuana for personal use act of 2014”. This Initiative was passed in 2014, making it legal for any person of the legal age of 21 and older to possess two ounces or less of marijuana, cultivate at their primary residence up to 6 pot plants, transfer one ounce of marijuana as long as no goods or money are exchanges, and allowed persons to legally consume marijuana on private property. The event now named “Trump 420” is being held to protest marijuana’s status as illegal on a federal level in the United States. DCMJ advised people who want to be a part of the demonstration to meet at the West Side of Dupont Circle in Washington DC at 8am for “coffee and tea and a parade down to the National Mall. Along the way, the protesters will hand out 4,200 joints of legally grown cannabis.

The DC Cannabis Coalition founder Adam Eidinger and other group members want more out of this event and want marijuana to be recognized and accepted and become legal on a federal level. “The main message is it’s time to legalize cannabis at federal level,” he said. “I think it’s a good protest. If someone wants to do it, they are risking arrest, but it’s a protest and you know what, the National Mall is a place for protest.” (rt.com)

The group DCMJ plans to spark up at exactly 4 minutes and 20 seconds into President-elect Donald Trump’s Inaguraul speech, unless Trump comes out in support of full cannabis legalization in all 50 states including DC. However, DCMJ does not plan to spark up as a group, but individuals who want to participate are invited to. Donald Trump’s standing on weed has never been clearly defined throughout his whole campaign. His pick for Attorney General, however, has said (on the record) “good people do not smoke marijuana”.  Durning a senate hearing about marijuana last year, Sessions had suggested that more use of marijuana would lead to the psychological problems across the United States and also cause a dependancy on other substances. Trump is, however, expected to keep firm in his standings and keep marijuana illegal at a federal level.
