We all know that A.R. Rehman was born in Hindu Family with a name of Dilip Kumar but
he, later on, changed his religion to Islam. Rahman said: “I was born in a Hindu family but the society where I spent most of my childhood had a majority of Muslim-Indian residents. So, I have been able to enjoy the perks and rituals followed by both the communities.”
Rahman further added: “Beyond everything, it is the thought that God is one. Whether you are a winner or a loser, dark or light God will shower his love on you so it didn’t matter to me if I was a Hindu or a Muslim.”
Rahman suffered “Identity Crisis”
Rahman explained that even deeper he got into the music he still faced an identity crisis. Sufism helped him and her mother to feel path lifted. And at the end, people don’t care who you are, they just care about the music.
