Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel ranked the 10 cities that people will love to visit in 2018. Seville, the capital of the Andalusia region of Spain occupied the first position on the list. Seville is situated on the plain of the river Guadalquivir. Seville has a population of about 1.5 million, making it the fourth-largest city in Spain and the 30th most populous municipality in the European Union.

History Of Seville

People of Seville are known as sevillanos or hispalenses. The name was given after the Roman name of the city, Hispalis.

Seville became one of the economic centres of the Spanish Empire as its port monopolised the trans-oceanic trade and the Casa de Contratación (House of Trade) wielded its power, opening a Golden Age of arts and literature.

Landmarks In Seville

Seville has places such as Archivo General de Indias (General Archive of the Indies), the Cathedral and the Alcázar which are one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It’s already a popular destination where tour buses circulate among its most famous sites.

It was established in 1835 in the former Convent of La Merced and the most important art collection of Seville.

We can also call Seville as the city of parks and gardens. the Parque de María Luisa (María Luisa Park), the Alcázar Garden, the Parque del Alamillo y San Jerónimo, the Gardens of Catalina de Ribera are one of the most beautiful gardens in Seville.
