This is The World’s Largest Hindu Temple Situated in a Foreign Land, 13499 Stones Were Sent From India

World’s Largest Hindu Temple and that too in abroad, yes we are talking about The Swaminarayan Akshardham in Robbinsville, New Jersey, U.S. The temple was built by the BAPS (Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Sanstha) and consecrated by Pramukh Swami Maharaj. The BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, which is headed by Mahant Swami Maharaj, is a denomination of the Swaminarayan branch of Hinduism.

Architectural Design

The temple is built of hand-carved Italian Carrara marble, Turkish limestone and Indian pink stone. The temple was constructed according to guidelines outlined in ancient Vedas, or Hindu scriptures. In addition to the temple, the complex includes a congregation hall. The temple is open daily to visitors and for worship. The architectural design is basically inspired from Vastu Shastra and Pancharatra Shastra.

The temple situated in 162 acres, cost approximately Rs 1,000 crores in making at Robbinsville, New Jersey. It is the world’s largest Hindu temple. Earlier, Sri Ranganath Swamy Temple in Tamil Nadu situated in 156 acres was the largest Hindu temple in the world. The structure is 87 feet wide, 133 feet long and 42 feet high.
