Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has offered to resign from his post after back-to-back train derailments in the last five days. However, PM Narendra Modi “asked him to wait.” Prabhu met with Prime Minister after Kaifiyat Express derailed in Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya district early on Wednesday morning.
Taking moral responsibility, he tweeted a series of tweets. Prabhu wrote: “I met the Hon’ble Prime Minister @narendramodi taking full moral responsibility. Hon’ble PM has asked me to wait.”

On Saturday, the Kalinga Utkal Express had derailed at Khatauli near Muzaffarnagar killing 22 people. On Wednesday, another train Kaifiyat Express derailed in Auraiya, Uttar Pradesh. At least 70 people were injured in the incident.
